This is looking wonderful. I'd say the only thing it oculd use now is some fine panel detailing. But excellent work; the design is very cool. :D

Speaking of which, how would someone go about adding panel lines? How about Fractal's Imperator, for example? Would they just be a buttload of boolean objects? That sounds kind of scary.

for that.. i've always just used the drill tool in lightwave.. basically i just draw lines on a background layer of the object then switch to the foreground select the polygons that i want the lines to cut into.. hit drill and poof i've got lines all i need to do then is just smooth shift them to give them some depth

the lines will come soon enough :)

and if you're using MAX, you can draw your splines in the same manner and then use a SHAPEMERGE compound object, then chamfer those new edges, extrude or bevel them and voila... panel detail...
    ;)

actually lightwave has the same thing.. in the form of a plugin unfortunately..

ah well cant ask for everything i guess :p

some updates.. added a hangar bay.. and i've decided to turn the main weapon in the space up front into some sort of gravity resonator type thing..

not sure how that'll turn out but we'll see :)

    here's the hangar bay..

It would feet perfectly in an Alien movie. Very good work.
It remind me, I've heard about alien vs predator for this summer in theaters. That's going to make new stuffs to make, the'll probably imagine new species.

Nice. You can see the sides of the big cylinders but I bet some good texturing can cover that up nicely.

ROFLMAO... Lots is a professional ship modeller for the StarHopper Corp. out of Coronet, Corellia. He usually uses MS Paint on a 486 Intel Machine, but this time he busted loose (crazy guy) by using The Gimp which is free. :D

Looking good there LOTS... me wanna see textures and more detail, much more detail muhuhahahaha...

heh well i was too lazy to actually move the bits of polygons so what you see spilling over into the edge there is actually those "fins" by the big cylinders.. in fact i had planned to put something there in its place anyway :) maybe raised hull plating.. etc..

As for the program? i use lightwave.. the educational version costs roughly 400 dollars (retails at $1500).. but like what many here will tell you its not just about the program.. its about what you can do with it..

@papafett: natrually ;) Actually i had planned on using gimp for the texturing job :p but first i must finish detailing and setting up surfaces :p and think about it i still got the whole bottom and middle section that need details :) not to mention a more detailed hanger bay for inside shots :p

anyway more work to come.. i have no tests for a bit now :)

    ewwwwww Nice!

I don't know if your going to keep it this way, but I like how the main gun is darker, while the rest of the ship is brighter. It adds a sense of power to the weaopn or something, I dono how to explain it, but anyways it looks great!

Lots... You suck! You're modelling sucks! I hate this ship! Everytime you add to this thread I just wanna reach through the 'net and rip your pancreas out! I hate you! I will never like your designs! And I will never brake if I see you crossing the road!!!

You obviously have the Lightwave plugin - makenotsuck.p ... 'coz it's certainly not talent I'm seeing here!

    Huh! Huh?

    Me? Jealous??!!!?!

    Yeah... Well... Bite me!!!
