Last night I caught Traci designing a complex, laser-activted alarm system to protect her Luke saber. I guess I don't have a snowball's chance in hell of ever getting to twirl it even once!

I received my new/used/defected Anakin FX saber today that I won off of ebay for $30!! It has one clipped wire in the battery casing that keeps the LED from working, but after touching the wires the light works great!! So...going to have it fixed/spliced tomorrow to finalize a deal. You guys have to check it out on ebay!! Guys name is machine box

I tried to get one the other day, but got outbid. Ah, well.

 

I went home for lunch today and standing at my door was my EpIII Ani (Luke ANH) saber!

And I got my Anakin EpII saber last week.

Women and men are completely different when it comes to owning MR lightsabers. Women open theirs up, put in the batteries, flip it on, smile, calmly say 'cool', and then immediately put it away back in the box until they get a chance to properly display it. All in all, this is about a five to seven minute process.

Men tear open the box, put in the batteries, flip it on, shout "COOOOOOOOL", chuckle, and maintain a geeked-out expression on their faces as they run through the house (and/or backyard), whipping the saber around pretending to be a Jedi Knight, complete with the lines appropriate to the lightsaber's owner in the films. This goes on for about two hours, and is sporadically repeated every ten to twenty minutes thereafter for about two weeks.

The women have theirs neatly displayed by now.

The display case that came with the man's lightsaber is probably lost by now. But he doesn't care because he's still running around the backyard saying things like "This party's over!" and "You are beaten!".

Two months later, the woman's MR saber is still neatly displayed on its stand.

Two months later, the man's MR saber is propped up in a corner, the hilt covered with gunk and fingerprints, with its blade snapped in two because his suspension of disbelief went a little too far and he forgot that he wasn't a Jedi Knight.

 

We revere them for the pieces of post modern Geek art they are.

 

Yet there are a few guys who play with them for an hour and then puts up the saber on the wall!! After it's on the wall in all it's glory to see for everyone who walks in, he then turns on the switch everynight just to see it's glow and to make sure the batteries aren't dead!! Just to make sure he didn't move them or put unnecessary fingerprints, he closely inspects them!!!

NO...not really....that goes to the people whom keep theirs in a glass case...so NOONE can touch then and NO dust can get on them...that's the anal retentive...I just fall under the category of.....I have had 2 break on me and don't want a repeat

I dunno about you guys, but my MR Vader never went on display, it sits proudly next to my comp ready at a moments notice to impale silly ex's who may perhaps decide to drop by. every now and then it is used to pose with in the dead of night infront of a mirror to inspect the owners continued plunge to the darkside. Hmm..my teeth are still nice and white and I don't have bags under my eyes yet......perhaps I'm not asserting myself correctly....

 

Hey guys....F.Y.I. My friend who alerted me to the MR FX sabers @ Saddlecreek shopping center, said that they are on sale there for $100 !!! They have both ROTJ Luke and Vader's FX sabers!!! Might wanna check it out

I now wish I would've waited on buying some of the FX sabers. The new ones are scaled more correctly than their predecessors. And, they only take 3 AA batteries instead of six.

One thing I did notice is that Anakins ROTS saber is... and allow me to geek out here... technically incorrect. It should match Luke's saber in ESB. They made some changes in ROTS, though, but I'm not sure why. Of course, Luke's ANH saber isn't exactly like his ESB saber, either, but they're both made from the Graflex flashgun.

And I think Rhonda has already ordered the Anakin LE and Anakin FX sabers.

I don't know stuff about prop building and lingo like "Graflex flashgun" but I do have speculative opinions on this kind of thing that are based on virtually nothing.

What if the saber Luke is given in E4 isn't the saber Anakin is using in E3.

What if:

A: the saber OB1 saves for Luke is a spare or one that Anakin is working on but not-yet-perfected (we all know the chosen one likes to tinker)?

B: the saber Luke gets is one that Anakin "lost" at some point--there is some basis for a "loses his saber often" Anakin, based on some banter between him and his master in E2.

C: (and I realize this one is far-fetched, but what if) Vader actually stays in contact with OB1, unbeknownst to the Emperor, or even with his approval, and bequeaths a new lightsaber to the boy.
