I would have maybe gone if I had time to plan it before (hotel, travel and stuff), haven't been to that part of Wales for a while, maybe next time then.

I'm sort of from Newport, place of birth and so on. But yeh, it's about the crappiest city in the country, and i've been to a lot of them.

 

Everywhere is like that tho lol, what you said about Newport could be true for a little place just on the outskirts of where I live Welshguy. It's always better to look for the one rose stood tall on the compost heap, than be covered in **** looking at heap, said the wise man to no one in particular

 

I think you might be right you know guys. Though if Darth Vader himself is brave enough to attend, then I assume it should be ok for us too. Besides, we got to keep the FFUK:Wales flag flying.

On a side note, I may not be able to spend too much though.

I was checking my bank account online eariler and it seems that a cheque for £520 was taken out of my account on the 15th March!!

Now seeing as I NEVER use cheques, this has come as quite a shock to me.

But i've contacted Barclays and they are looking into it. I'm going to go down the bank tomorrow and find out what the hells going on, as it seems a further £320 was taken out a few months ago.

Dark and dangerous times these are for Welshguy's wallet, the dark side I sense.

Though if it does turn out that a postman has intercepted my cheque book or someone has gotten hold of my account details, then the police will be called in.

i studied in the college in Newport (caerleon to be precise) and i know how bad newport city Centre can get.its actually has one the of the high crimes rates of any city in the UK, mainly for arson and assault. BUT.some of my family live there and as cities go ive seen worse!
plus the event is in the sports centre which is right next to the bus station.so easy to get to!

 

Well I for one don't plan to go into the town centre. Just hang out, get my pic taken with Sakara and buy some overpriced junk.

Sounds like my perfect day out!!!!

So is it just me and Sakara going?

Anyone else? Come on, you know you want to.

We can take down those 501st-ers no problem!

All I need to do now is remember to wake up.

Trust me, its not as easy as it sounds.

I missed the last event cause of this little problem. But i'll be trying my darnedest to drag my lazy ass out of bed and get there.

The City centre is quite bad but does not have the highest crime rate in the uk.. It used to have the highest DRINK related Violence.

But thanks to theh efforts of my fellow work mate it has decreased. Still live here and work here.

But there is a line from Twin town that will always remind me of it "Pretty ***** City"

Edit: Oh yeah, I got blanked by some medal carrier number 3 guy too. I went over to say hi cause he seemed a little lonely. I was chatting to him for about 30 seconds, you know usual stuff: How big was the set, why didn't Chewie get a medal etc, when he stops in the middle of a sentence and walks over to 2 other guys who have come up to his table. So i'm just standing there like a lemon, waiting for him to finish his sentence. But he aint coming back!!
So his wife (who was helping out) looks at me as if to say, "I can't believe he just did that, i'm sorry!".
So I wonder off, seriosuly ******, but vow to get my revenge one day!!

I'll have you know that if it wasn't for Derek Lyons' character, Exar Kun would have taken over the temple on Yavin 4 and killed the entire Rebellion!

i do loads of these events...got two in June. tho this is the first time ive worked the photostand!

NAh i travel all over the country. the next two troops are in leicester - a charity event and a big scifi weekend at the national Space Centre.
then there's London Film and Comic con in July.
