Would anyone be so kind as to suggest where I might find the best, most, etc good source of photo ref. for the new Obi-Wan costume from the current film?

Looking for the best detail shots, close ups, head to toe etc for accurate costuming, thought you folks would be the experts on this. Everything from belts to robes, head to toe.

    Any suggestions greatfully accepted!

    Thanks much!

    *bump*

I am also looking into making a ROTS Obi-wan costume and could use any pictures/advice anyone can offer. This will be my first attempt at making a Jedi costume. I should probably add that I'm a perfectionist and want it to look as authentic as possible (if only I could raid the set closet, heh).

I'm doing a version of Obi-Wan's ROTS costume...even if it's exact, it won't be canon because I'm a female ;-) I just really like the style and colours. I can't figure out what fabric he's wearing for the under tunic...I found a remnant of what looks good, so I'll have to see about getting more of it. I also have enough of a lycra bathing suit material that's shiny, but if you turn it over, it looks similar to twill. The plus side of the stretchy is that it'll hug tighter and still give me room to move around. Now I have to muslin a pattern to see if I can get the undertunic shape right...I have ideas on a modification so we'll see.

Okay all I thought I had my cloak ready to be made but found the pattern Simplicity #7438 work better or so I have been told. Well I cannot find one to buy anywhere! I have ebay'd, googled. yahoo'd till I could look no more. I had bought the pattern Simplicity 5840. I was going to use the female pattern and just widen the arms and hood.
What do you all think and any advise on this? My friend a seamstress is helping me make it, but she has never seen the movie.
I read the Jedi Cloak page and it was excellent but I cannot find the other pattern due to being out of print and I cannot find it sold anywhere.
I am 5 ft 2 inches and 115 lbs if that helps.

This is all new to me and I printed out a few of the pictures thanks, those are helpful.
I am a girl too.(I hope I placed this in the right thread)

    Hi,

I'm from the UK and I'm putting together an Obi Wan Kenobi style costume. I've got the Belt, Boots, and Trousers covered, but at the moment I'm having absolutly no luck with the correct fabric for the tunic.

From looking at numerous images scattered across the web, it looks to be a loose weave fabric with almost a wool appearance to it with a crepe crinkle.

I've read of many people using crinkled cotton or crepe, but I would have thought that this would have been to lightweight and wouldn't have had the correct look.

Has anyone succesfully obtained this fabric, or come to a close match ? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to do some Jedi belts as well. From what I've found and kind of I guess made up, I think the easiest route would be to buy a natural 3" belt blank for the main belt and then like a 3/4" or a 1" belt blank for the smaller, inner band.

i'd say a good medium brown or dark brown antique dye would work well. tandy leather has some antique dyes that seem like they would do the trick. i'd recomend going darker and then you can just weather and sand them to a lighter brown if needed.

    Hey everyone..

Here are some progression pictures of my Obi-Wan Kenobi/Jedi outfit. I haven't made the sash yet, and the pants will be coming along shortly.

I'm going with the Obi-Wan material and having the tabbards exceed past the sash on both ends, similar to the length of Qui-Gon Jinn.

Right now it's a heavy work in progress, but check it out and let me know what you think.

    Thanks

Really, nice piece of work :)
    Thanks for the pics :)

The under tunic looks really nice. Very well done.
This is the part of the costume I'm most worried about.
