Mini Series Official “The Acolyte” Series Discussion Thread (Spoilers Allowed)

didn't realize we were making this the thread when I made mine. This is by far the most exciting announcement for me today. Love the time period and the potential with this one!

 

This one I am fairly interested, though I'll have to see more. Glad to see the High Republic will be getting a screen treatment.

Excited to see if this is the beginning of the Sith.

 

I hope they just don't contradict KOTOR or the surrounding era... The one Legends thing I want untouched if it's not made canon.

 

They're live-action unless noted otherwise it seems.

KOTOR has already been contradicted at least in the finer details by various things.

 

What’s this? A tv show that isn’t during the Reign of the Empire or inbetween VI and VII?

Did Porky Pig get his pilot license? Did Queen Elsa launch an invasion on Hell?

Edit: I haven’t been this optimistic for a SW project since the 08 Clone Wars. And I’m with @TCF-1138, let there be Jedi.

 

Minor details are no big deal... It is to be expected that changes are made when stories/characters re-enter canon. Also, I don't read most of the books and comics.

 

I mean from what I've seen you could kinda wedge KOTOR back in, but you'd have to take some red marker to the details and shift it on the timeline. TOR is right out, at least AFAIK.

This may end up being my favorite series.

 

TOR is not nearly at the same level as KOTOR anyways. I have played it, and some of the expansions, but I don't consider anything after KOTOR II to be canon to that series anyways. And even then, KOTOR II wasn't a direct sequel to the first game, there was a middle act between them that we never saw.

 

We’re told in TPM that the Sith have been “extinct for a Millenium” and that the Republic has “stood for 1000 years” with the Sith having ruled the galaxy before that, so we know that the Sith have been around at least 1000 years.

 

Think canon has it that the Sith were around for at least a good few millennia, but maybe this is the inception of the 'modern' Sith that lead to Palpatine, if it is anything in that vein.

I honestly thought this show would be about the acolytes of the beyond when I first saw it.

 

I wonder if we might see the birth of the trade federation in the series or the sith in hiding or plotting behind the scenes.

 

This sounds so cool! But I really hope this is from a Sith/villain POV...

The lead can start out sympathetic, but I want the bulk of the series to be about the baddies.

 

This sounds very promising. Sounds to me like it will be the story of a Rule of Two confidant while the order was still accumulating knowledge and power.
