Andor Official "Andor" Series Discussion Thread (Spoilers Allowed)

The volume is like anything else - if the people making the show don't know how to use it properly it can result in subpar scenes.

Same with CGI, practical effects, etc.

 

And the same with sets. Some of the most criticized scenes in BoBF were shot on that Tatooine set they built. And yet fans blame the Volume for it. In my experience, I’ve found that indoor soundstages and sometimes backlot sets, without the aid of the Volume, have tended to look the “cheapest” in some of the recent shows. As well as the on-location shoot for the Tragedy, which was all Rodriguez.

 

Since andor season 2 postponed shooting due to the landslide threat, does that mean season 2 is canceled?

 

I'm assuming they will find another filming location. I doubt the season is cancelled but it might be delayed.

There was a landslide threat at only one shooting location used for Saw Gererra’s base. So no. The whole season won’t be cancelled because of it.

Thanks to this thread, I researched what this is. Wow.

 

I just watched Rogue 1 for the first time since Andor aired. I've always said Cassian had more depth than critics gave him credit for, and the series absolutely added to the way Cassian appeared in the movie.

 

What did you notice?

I haven't watched RO for a while and am really excitrd to do so once Andor S2 has finished. Or possibly while waiting...

(I imagine the opening of Cassian meeting an ally and shooting them is quite a contrast to a similar opening scene in Andor S1).

 

One of the primary reasons Andor felt so fresh was the return to location shooting. It's so very much a part of what made SW feel so lived in and real despite the high fantasy setting.

Apparently Tony Gilroy finished the last Andor season 2 script before the WGA strike began, although the strike means that there cannot be any re-writes on set.
Acolyte is due to wrap filming later this month, so hopefully they won’t be too badly affected.

Neither show is set to come out until 2024 anyways so they would still have time to do any additional work that would be needed anyways.

 

Gilroy knows how to build hype with his total confidence in his own material.

 

Wait no longer, on Disney+ there's this movie called Rogue One that shows that exact thing.

 

I think @rhade meant that they can’t wait to watch the theft of the Death Star plans in Rogue One right after watching the final three episodes of Andor.

 

But the post was One that seemed to go a bit Rogue And/or would be better read with a gin or so.
