I heard really positive review of All Star Superman. I've been planning on picking that up.

Iron Fist hasn't looked this cool in quite a while.

I was rereading some of the classic Wolfman/Perez New Teen Titans of the 80's... I had forgotten how good that run was. The Terra/Terminator story arc was brutal.

Any book that has a two page spread of Galileo aiming a Renaissance-era laser cannon at Galactus gets my seal of approval.

I picked up volume 1 of Captain Britain and MI:13. Not bad at all. I'm not sure how much I like Cornell's idealised take on CB, but compared to Claremont's horrible treatment of the character I don't think I should complain. Kirk's art is pretty good, though a bit cluttered - he does try to fill up the panel, rather than surrounding the characters with white space. At times it can be a bit confusing.

Marvel had the best cross over events this year with "Siege" and "Second Coming." However, I haven't been thrilled with the "Heoric Age" relaunch of the Avengers titles.

DC's "Brightest Day" has been like watching the last two seasons of "Heroes;" just alot of teasors but no real plot reveal until the last issue.

Ooh! It's either Wolverine, or two Batmen about to make sweet love.

picked up the latest Invincible trade (awesome, of course) and the last Planetary trade, which is the most mind-blowing I've read (this trade, specifically), since Watchmen. Possibly moreso. It's insane and insanely awesome.

Also, I'm trying to stay away from single issues right now, but I picked up the 2nd printing (bleh) of Uncanny X-Factor #1 on the advice of my LCS owner (went in to find the first Flash trade, but it hasn't come out yet and wanted to get something). It was fantastic and I highly recommend the series. Art is on point, as is the plot which quickly moved to huge heights in scale. Plus, it's cool as hell.

Do you mean Uncanny X-Force? There is no Uncanny X-Factor. If so, yes, it is cool as hell.

yeah, yeah, that's what I meant.

    thanks. :)

I enjoyed the gender-reversed heroes article, btw.

And why is Batman about to make love to himself???

I agree, Remender is blowing Uncanny X-Force out of the water. I'm liking it much better than the Kyle & Yost iteration, as good as it was.

Funny how Rick Remender has kind of become the guy to go when you want to rehabilitate a 90s EXTREME!1! property: first The Punisher, then X-Force, now Venom...

I can sum up my reaction in precisely one word: ugh.

On the bright side, my copies of Essential Thor and Essential Fantastic Four arrived today, so I should get in some quality Silver Age reading this weekend.

This article shows why I don't really read Marvel and DC superhero comics anymore (Some NSFW language and images)

The most thoughtful line of the article , I would think, would be:

I'm a big fan of Spidey, but I'm getting really tired of Spidey being part of so many teams. It reeks of a cash grab by Marvel to me. Avengers, New Avengers, FF, and his own books. That's a lot of Spidey each month. And a lot of teams ups for a hero that has notoriously operated on his own.

[rant]Maybe I'm just irritable but I'm also getting tired of the new costumes Spidey is sporting. Lets stick with the traditional garb.[/rant]

To be fair, this looks like an organic follow-up to everything Hickman has been doing on Fantastic Four and everything Slott is doing in Amazing Spider-Man, only it's been getting more publicity due to Johnny's death. I don't know what to think about the costumes, but they're a Marko Djurdjevic design after all. I'll wait to see them in the comics themselves.
