I happened across a couple of issues from Image called Dead Hand, flipped trough and grabbed them. Looks something like say Black Widow.

Got some swag featuring a batman/Catwoman wedding invite with a list of issues involving it on the back. Among other things a Catwoman #1, a new series?

The Motor City Comic Con is this weekend and I shall not attend. I might go to one in August called the Michigan Comic Con.

 

I read every year of it to the last issue. It's a very good read. I remember talking about to a friend and the cause of Superman's turn and he was like "I can never imagine Superman doing that. No matter what." I thought it was an interested take on the character and is "Superman's: The Killing Joke" moment (aka "one bad day.")

Anyway, I wasn't at all happy the way Injustice ended.

 

The X-Men wedding special was sadly heteronormative.

 

A Jewish girl marring an atheistic Russian guy after one of them come back to life (after sacrificing himself to cure mutant-ADIS) and both have had stories about have they are over each other and all you have to say that it was heteronormative?

It's just, like, between Rachel and Karma and Illyana, there are much better folks for Kitty to get married off to.

Also, the whole 'Colossus transparently wanted to sleep with her when she was underage' thing makes it creepy af.

 

I didn't think that Kitty was a lesbian or bisexual character.

Yeah, I'd agree with this.

 

She's canonically bi, and is famous for having an incredible amount of queer subtext with Illyana, with Rachel, with Karma, with Courtney Ross, and so forth. Claremont even said, outright, in a interview a couple years back, that Rachel was Kitty's one true love. You forget that Colossus, for all his size, was not that much older back then and what I remember so was it more of a romantic thing then a sexual one and Kitty was the leading one in that relationship.

 

Kitty was fourteen when they started dating. Colossus was nineteen. No way to slice it that doesn't make it creepy.

I guess my brain is wired to be more facts orientated, given that I don't think subtextual implications of anything really count (it's so easily subjected to confirmation bias, not to mention can just be a reader reading too much into something, e.g. like the fan theory that Poe would be gay in TLJ). Mileage may vary.

It's certainly possible for Clark to go that way, since the Joker is the one who manipulated him into killing Lois and the unborn son. We've seen similar bits where Clark has done questionable things when Lois had died and he failed to save her, like in "Kingdom Come" and in the DCAU with "Brave New Metropolis". Along with stories like "Red Son", where he did take on more of an authoritarian method of superheroing.

I didn't bother reading it. I was done.


I've received my hardcover for The Dark Knight Returns: The Master Race awhile back, but I have yet to read the final chapter. However, from what I've read so far, it's a really good redemption piece from TDKR2, and certainly, Superman has been coming off much better than in the original story.

 

Have you played or read up on "Injustice 2"?

 

Nope. I don't want to be suckered in for another 4-5 years and have another unsatisfying ending.

But, I haven't actually read a comic book in about a year. The comic book I recall reading was like issue eight of Wonder Woman Rebirth.

 

So Marvel did not release the preview for Old Man Hawkeye 5 today... I suppose I'll have to check Checchetto's Twitter tomorrow, he sometimes posts them a day or two later there.

 

It was less about having a satisfying ending and more that the game's story would never line up with the comic, which is why they used "Flashpoint". This is the downside of doing comic tie-ins for ongoing franchises.
