    Okay, That was super awesome.

Sesfan and I made a floating ledge high above the ground, with a gantry made out of logs (which we demonished after turning the lever) which the Fast Zombies could'nt climb up onto.

...and then I started firing Plasma Balls.
One of them sprung right back and hit Sesfan square on the torso. Sending him flying off into the heaving mass of zombies...

"God damnit- I hate you Rich"; came his voice over Teamspeak.

A few minutes later, another of the balls bounced right underneath our gantry... destroying it, and leaving me falling right into the zombie sprawl myself. We both died soon after.

Then WE BECAME MELONS AND RACED EACH OTHER AND I LEARNED THAT I WAS A MUCH FASTER MELON THAN SESFAN.

    That is all.

The whole point of the level is to show off the HDR effects which have been added to the Source engine. If your computer can't show them, then it's not terribly surprising that you're disappointed!

HDR stands for High Dynamic Range. Normally, there is no difference between a bright light and an incredibly bright light in a game- once the light is as bright as the screen can display, anything brighter just looks the same. HDR accounts for this by allowing for a higher range of light, so even though you still see the same two bright lights looking the same, when it comes to calculating how the light reflects the engine can see the difference between the two, so it can render the reflections much more realistically. Some other effects that HDR allows are "blooming", and mimicking the way your eyes adjust to changes in brightness, such as when you go from a light area to a dark area or vice versa.

If you're after more "proper" HL2, you'll have to wait for Aftermath I'm afraid...

I saw that! :D Spector's a genius, I can't wait to see what he comes up with. The article I've read doesn't make it clear, is it being developed on the Source engine, or is it just a case of Steam distribution?

    *ahem*

    From Junction Point:
We are currently working with Valve on a new game using the Source Engine to be delivered via Steam, and are looking for top talent from within the industry to help us out.

Well, I picked up half life 2 again after finishing it at the start of the year. I thought it may have dated a tad since playing "F.E.A.R.". Instead it made me realise what good a game it is. I think HL2 is the best FPS ever. Every level is so much fun to play with all those physics problems. The enemies are interesting and the levels are mostly original unlike the standard scary laboratory clique.

Couldn't agree with you more, Hawk. It's just staggaring how great Half-Life 2 really is. After 5 years of anticipation, it surpassed the hype. Masterful.

Really? I think the game is pretty slow. But, I'm only in the early battles. Why is it so hard to get cooler guns, or more ammo?

It is a slow build up but it is worth the wait. The game really kicks off on the first vehicle level. Then when you get the gravity gun, you'll never look back.

Totally. Once you hit Water Hazard, you'll be grinning like a madman for the rest of the game.

I'm sooo addicted to Garry's Mod right now. It's probably the best mod ever - for any game.

HF2 is a good game, but why does the ending of it suck so bad?

I just finished it last night on Xbox. The game was so frickin' awesome. I want to go replay it.

I thought the ending was pretty brilliant and it was definitly a head spinner. Instead of the cliche "hero gets girl and lives happily" ending, Gordan is once again in the Gman's clutches. I love the way Valve left it mysterious. How does the Gman do that stuff?

^The ending of the game really reminded me of the ending of Tron.

You know the expansion is coming soon... I recommend not looking up ANY info on it if you want to be spoiler-free. Even the simplest screen shot seems to be a spoiler.

But if you do want info, look up Half-life 2: Aftermath.
