If stating a fact is an attack, yes. Another one of those! :)

Definitely! For example, I once said that Jake Lloyd played Anakin Skywalker in TPM.

We'll probably hear people say the movie is too funny. Not as a compliment, like "Oh, you're too funny", but as a complaint, like "No, it's too funny.... Star Wars shouldn't be this funny."

    Like slapstick humor?

Guardians of the Galaxy is clooooose to slapstick, but still not. Even so, I don't want a Han Solo flick to be as funny and silly as GotG.

There is a pretty large gap between humorous and slapstick. Still, I think given the track record of the directors we'll get something right up there with GotG in terms of humor.

Hmmm. TFA mixed the light with the heavy moments. It had a decent amount of whimsy to it. But the next two movies look a whole lot more Serious. Both Rogue and Episode 8 look like travelling down darker paths.

The timing may be right for a light hearted movie then. I know you guys are treating Slapstick as a dirty word, but a bit of physical humor might be what is needed.

Some laughs before going back into the heavy stuff in Episode 9.

I don't want it to be like GotG simply because it shouldn't be a copy of another movie. But jokes are good, and these directors do good jokes.

I don't think its going to be a copy of GotG by any stretch. Just if that was too humorous I don't really expect this to fall under that in whatever imaginary scale of humor we're ranking on.

The Lego movie, 21 jump street, 22 jump street, and cloudy with a chance of meatballs. I don't think we need to worry about it being a downer. Realistically I think it will probably be a little more serious than any of those, but I wouldn't be surprised if it mirrors 21 and 22 jump street in some ways. Han and Chewie fall into that naturally imo.

Yeah. Any fans who don't want too much humor in their Star Wars need to start preparing now. It's going to be wall-to-wall humor.

I think there are going to be a number of fans saying "that's not SW" or "Disney is ruining what Lucas did" ignoring the fact that, especially at the end, Lucas was very conscious of the humor in, and the humor inspired by Star Wars. Heck he green lit Detours after endorsing and appearing on Robot Chicken's SWs.

Agreed. Personally, I think it could end up being one of the most re-watchable SW films in the franchise. The Kasdan father-son duo and Miller and Lord is a perfect team up. There'll be both humor and heart in the film. Pure Star Wars.

As I said earlier, I was far from sold when I first heard about it. I think the people that have become involved simply ooze win.

I've got no doubt it is going to be the most divisive anthology film, but as you said, I'm already looking forward to re-watching it again and again. If they can squeeze that much heart out of mini-figs, the sky is the limit.

Hey, I didn't say too much humor wouldn't feel like Star Wars. It's just a personal preference, since I hope the film will be more than just a space comedy.

I think that a cool think about the anthology films is that it allows them to experiment with different ideas and tones.

That's true, but this isn't a film based on a completely new character. So it's not like they can experiment that much with Han's character.

Anyway, we were talking about Lando right? Lando... It's not a system I've heard of.

True, but the fact that the OT leaves both Han and Lando's backstories so mysterious gives writers/filmmakers today quite a but of room to maneuver in this regard.

You can certainly change a lot as a person in 10 years of time, but it all depends on how young these versions of Han and Lando will be. We don't know yet.

Besides, isn't Lando supposed to be a few years older than Han in-universe?

I don't know if Glover is my ideal Lando but am struggling to think of a better one right now.

Obviously super keen to see the character again though!

I've heard that Jabba the Hut will be in it also, in the acting debut of the governor of New Jersey, Chris Christie. Is that true?

The movie will probably feature a lot of people from Han's past. Jabba. Boba Fett, hell, even Greedo!

Don Glover is an ok choice, but I'd rather they find someone less well-known. I'm afraid I might think of his character on Community too much, when he's on the screen.
There's gotta be some talented black actor out there, similer to how Michael B. Jordan was an unknown actor who's recently blew up. He's damn good, and I'd actually prefer him over Glover as Lando. But I don't think he's available, so we've gotta find somebody else.

I'd be lying if I said that hasn't been an issue for me with the new SW movies. Took a long time to not think about Adam as the not Girls Adam.

Thankfully no one watched Community so it shouldn't be an issue :p

(that was a joke, I know that it was a much beloved, and critically acclaimed show, even if it struggled to find an audience).

not a fan of either Glover or him as Lando. If cast he could surprise me, but not even once did I find him charming, always seemed more on the obnoxious side.

Look at it as different storytellers telling stories in their own unique way. In this case, Miller and Lord travel to the GFFA, witness Han's adventures, and tell an embellished story that focuses more on the fun and adventure, and less on the heavy stuff. This doesn't mean that Han Solo changes. It simply means that different storytellers are giving us their views of Han Solo.
