It Just looks like the same thing on the left, uncovered.

Which isn't a whole ship, but just looks like the boarding ramp, of a much bigger (unseen) ship.

If it's part of Rogue One and on the Yavin set, and going by the color, it's probably an imperial ship they commandeered, to infiltrate, an Imperial base.
Ot it's a black-ops ship they put together themselves,

Seeing as they've not bothered to cover the Imperial/First Order Landing Craft it would be strange if it was the same or similar vessel they've gone to that much trouble in covering.....unless its a major plot point, say its stolen by the team to make an escape from the Empire.

You beat me to it. I was just about to post it. :anakin: LOL

Considering this whole practical/real desert nonsense, I have a hard time believing they're going to turn around and digitally recreate a character in the next movie, but we'll see.

I mean I'm not against it, I thought young Michael Douglas looked really great in Ant Man.

Besides, I thought Ben Mendelsohn already looked so much like Cushing, I figured he'd play Tarkin.

How do you not see it's the same object? They are the same! Just flip it in your minds-eye, and line up all the main features.
Or if you can't here it is for you.

If this is the Rogue one set, It's likely uncovered, because they're probably redressing it to be something else, there's a crane loading another part to it. or they'll just be using a portion of it to be something else unrecognizable.

I have a hard time believing this, mostly because the Daily Mail is a publication that should probably find a new title that rhymes with either "rag" or "trash." If there is any validity to this (and given the source, that's an "if" the size of Pangaea), I doubt the recreation would be for anything other than a quick scene or two.

I remember a similar story about 20 years ago when TPM was in pre production. They were going to do the same but with a young Alec Guiness to create Obi-Wan. Total nonsense.

I'll wait and see about the Tarkin recreation. For storytelling reasons, I understand why they would do this.

You really need to learn to read people's replies properly and not then edit them to suit you. I wasn't disagreeing what the ship was [face_shame_on_you]

So what were you disagreeing with?
    Why'd you quote me then?
    I ask you honestly.

    Here's what you wrote...
And my reply explaining the shape, by way of the uncovered ship - which you quoted..
It's not a big deal but you say I don't understand your post properly, so help me understand.
What did you disagree with, that you quoted? a. b. c.?

    Or you agreed?
Just trying to understand why were you quoting me?
Again, I'm honestly just asking, in a friendly manner, since the reason I replied is because you quoted me to make your "argument."

have you guys ever seen those commercials where they recreate long dead celebrities like Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, and John Wayne that is not CGI It Is digital compositing, where they take old stock footage and digitally insert it to look like that celebrity is in the scene. May be they are doing It that way which wouldn't be so bad.

Actually those commercials, full cg or composite still kind of creep me out a bit.
Like they are using the likeness of the character, for something they never actually agreed with.
It's weird, because someone wearing prosthetics to imitate/impersonate them doesn't seem to bother me, but this does.
    Not sure why?
I guess I have to get over it, because with the proliferation of sequels/prequels , recycling and revisiting everything in hollywood and for commercial use, the posthumous CG and compositing will probably become more and more common.

I think he's full CG here.

    And these are composites?

Its there in bold, the Imperial/First Order Landing Craft could be covered in the pics at the Temple set because its involved in a major plot point, earlier being in a scene with Stormtroopers is not such a giveaway.

For those that were complaining about the look of the guys in the group photo, not looking like Rebels... A collection of Rebel SpecForce uniforms from various time periods.

Add in a bit of pallet swapping, a bit of a rag tag band, and I think what they got is perfect.

I'm all in for Cushing CGI. Star Wars has always been about revolutionizing special effects.

Plus if the film has the death star in it as a location it's gonna be grating if Tarkin is only mentioned and never seen.

While I am skeptical if they did it I think it'd be a small bit like a hologram transmission to help hide the fact that he's entirely cg.

I love that helmet on the right. Some biker scout elements, definitely some McQuarrie influence...

    Nice!
I hope there is matching new Imperial vehicles to go with these helmets.
Black might be some kind of Stealth-TIE.
And the Beige Speeder-bike like helmet might be for a new open air (maybe desert) type vehicle.

I think it would be cool if the black helmet is worn by the users of an atmospheric craft that's a bit like the Kashyyyk Wookiee copters, but without the dragonfly blades. Some other propulsive system that makes it look not like a copter, but maneuver like one. Small and stealthy, with a pilot and a gunner.
