Full Series Official Star Wars Rebels Discussion Thread (Spoilers Allowed)

The theatrical cuts is why everything else happened. They have right of place, Fett.

 

As far as I can remember the difference plotwise between the SEs and the original cuts is basically "Greedo shot first and Han Solo met with Jabba in New Hope" and "We see a galactic celebration after Palpatines death". The rest is just effects and stuff and that's where most of the contention lies. I actually rather like the second change since it gives the sense of "this really was a galactic wide conflict"

A part of me wants unaltered editions released so I can own them too and another part doesn't because the only reason it'd be done is to pander to angry fanboys and I don't think creators should ever pander to angry fanboys. I am already worried about Disney focusing too much on the nostalgia factor in new releases and that would kinda confirm that to me.

 

Heck, the theatrical cuts weren't even what we got on home video. There has never been one definitive edition of STAR WARS, just what the individual prefers. From the minuscule to the large scale, and it's an argument best left buried. Disney could easily release an original cut, if they ever get the rights to A New Hope, but it's time to look toward the future of the franchise, and not dwell on the disenfranchised few, whatever their quarrels may be, justified or not. I enjoy my blu-rays, and I enjoy my original DVD cuts.

As for Sam Witwer, I imagine he'll be playing Palpatine, and hopefully Maul.

 

I know but for people like me who only got into star wars right after the first SE came out and never saw the others we would be confused.

 

I much prefer the SE versions of e.g. the celebration music at the end of ROTJ.

 

Eh. I'm one of the biggest haters of Yub Nub on these forums, but as Star Wars musical scores go, the new victory celebration theme isn't that great.

 

I really hate arguments like this that desperately attempt to paint the OOT crowd as unreasonable. Why is it pandering now to listen to your fans? Why is it pandering to give Star Wars the same respect and treatment as literally EVERY other classic film?

 

Being "confused" because of the version you don't like being canon is trolling, as is denying people the ability to watch whichever version they prefer just to piss them off. If the original versions aren't released just to piss off SE haters, there should be a long scene about midichlorians in TFA just to piss off prequel haters. Futhermore, the celebrations could be removed in a future SE. It's time to stop this pissing contest and start discussing the celebrations.

Am curious if Maul is behind the newly added Crymorah & Droid Gotra acting as part've his reformed Shadow Syndicate in a post CW era . Lucas described Maul was Sonny Corleone and Witwer described Maul as Colonel Kurtz.

I wondering if that's going to happen this season with this whole big space skirmish coming up. Maybe, next season, after Vader shows up, it'll go BOOM then. I'm betting on a cliffhanger.

Did anyone else make this connection? I know we dissected other parts of this image and found other characters, but I never saw this one come up.

 

Ugh, Tarkin's flagship is destroyed.

Man, if Tarkin is turned into some sort of loser character just to give the rebels an easy victory ... I'll be pissed off. I'll still watch the show, but only because of cameos.

Lol, the rate they are going against a crew that usually follows idiot plans or wrecks their own ship, the Empire better get all the insurance they can afford.

 

I hope that wiki page was filled out by someone who hasn't seen the episode and just made assumptions from the trailer. Mainly about the Lothal part.
