Books Padmé YA novel CONFIRMED (Queen’s Shadow by EK Johnston)

Situations like today are exactly why more than once over the past year when talking to a prospective future SW author I've been told that they were uninterested because of the "general fervor and intensity of the fanbase." I remain mostly hopeful about being able to convince such authors of the positive aspects of joining the SW author family, but as these types of incidents accumulate among both new/old writers that certainty diminishes a tad.

And to echo Jello's above statement. Who says what, how they say it, whether they say it at all is a complicated and personal thing and no benefit comes from comparing people or keeping score. Just because the conversation wasn't in full view on Twitter with a custom hashtag doesn't mean it didn't take place.

 

That makes me sad

 

I'm looking forward to this book. Padme has always been a very underrated and underutilized SW character, and reading about her transition from queen to senator and diving more into her relationship with her handmaindens should be very interesting.

 

They author shouldn't be shy about describing the outfits Padme will wear. She was stunning in the PTs.

I'm super excited about this novel, and I think EKJ did such a good job with Ahsoka so I'm glad she's taking care of Padme too. Also, I love that the handmaidens are getting some attention. They were such a big part of what drew me to The Phantom Menace and the whole world of a galaxy far, far away.

 

Spoiler, Jane Foster died. Thor and Odin channeled their power to bring her back using the god storm. She is not unworthy, she sent Mjolnir to the heart of the sun to imprison a villain. And her series did so well its pretty much inevitable they'll use how she was resurrected to give her powers again.

Anyway, Padme and the girl gang. Great interview about the dynamics in the group. I hope its conveyed well in the book.

 

Oh yeah I forgot it was something like that and yeah your probably right about her getting the powers back . yeah I can't wait to see how they handle all that. I wanna see how the new handmaiden that Zahn created for thrawn alliances actually was like cause we only had Padme talk about her and mourn her death .

So, about this book that we're all looking forward to then.....

 

Right...um, I'm just glad that we are finally getting more prequel content.

 

Paperback Cover- Paperback out in May in the UK

 

Paperback? Yuck, so glad I've the US hardback pre-bought.

 

Hardback is available in March but in the UK that is a limited stock, a bit fannish. The mass market paperback sold cheaper at train stations probably makes more cash

 

The only way I've ever got the US hardbacks in the UK is using online sellers like Wordery or Book Depository who manage to get it for a while, especially for pre-orders.

I have a couple of the Egmont paperbacks for the Rebels: Servants of the Empire series and I'm not a fan of them.

 

Yes, I do not know why Egmont keep opting for a red / black vibe for all its middle-grade + covers. They were pretty cool for the Journey to the TFA series, worked less well for Before the Awakening, looks horrible for most wanted and for Cobolt Squadron and now this? At least the UK Egmont covers for Adventures in Wild Space were good!

 

Turns out that's actually what the very tip of Vader's lightsaber looks like you examine it under a microscope.

 

Took me a second, but now my perception of every scene with Vader's saber in it is has been altered forever. Well done.

I mean the main goal is lesbian Sabe, but hey destroying the early 00s internet is always a good bonus
