HI. I was so excited to see that others are making this dress and I have a place to see how others are doing the dress. I made my own pattern for the dress... I thought it looked very roman/ toga like so I made a sorta fitted dress of a peach/pink rayon with a yellow chiffon over it. I hemed the fabric together in the sleves and neck opening and hemed the bottum of the dress seperate. for all those white flowers I got that foam craft paper and had a friend of mine punch out flowers with a whole punch and hand sewed them on. I croched the ear things and they turned out very nice and I still need to embroyder the bodice. I didnt know how the back closed so I am lacing it closed with more ribbon like what is on the sleeve. for making the cape... do you have to have a surger or can you get by with a regular sewing machine? You all sound like you have put in so much work. wow. I still have to balance college and sewing. I am sorta bummed that SWII opens durring final week for me.
    thanks for your help.

    Very cute indeed, Obi-Dawn...

and you know, it's nice to have proof that even surreally beautiful people have moments when there's nothing graceful about them. Some of those full-body shots with legs flying in the air are really funny.

My first thought on seeing these was:
What kind of shoes is she wearing?
It's not too clear... my first impression is "Space Keds"
Is it any clearer on the actual feed than it is in the screencaps, I wonder?
In any case, it does NOT look like sandals... interesting...

Wow! Ever since I saw this thread I've been OBSESSED with this gorgeous dress! I've gotten my mom to help with the sewing, but unfortunatly, I have to wait until Halloween to start. By then, though, I'll have all the pictures needed. And my embroidery skills are pretty good, too. :)

    Wonderful work!

    And cute pics.... :)

Yeah so like the subject says.
I just couldn't stand that, being named a product, I don't know what compelled me, maybe because it was very, very late.

Anyways, yes I shall bring many a photos once I start getting digital camera happy, I'm pretty much done my skirt, and the glue gun does wonders to ones fingers *ouch, burn*!

And once my site goes up, I will have tones of little details, cause those are great, but right now, stupid school must come first, atleast it's over next week.

So, I really wanna make those hair buns, I've got the fake hair to go with it and I bought the most beautiful golden thread or some form of thine yarn.

And yet one problem, how do I make it???

    HELP!

I noticed some of you did crochet and yeah...so...er.. know any good websites for beginners ^_^;;;;??!!

My mom thinks I'm crazy and that I should skip the buns, but the thread, it's gold and it's pretty and I must make it.

My dress must be somewhat perfect. If I had the patience to embroder, I would, but I've decided that It shall be thanks to some special paper, ink jet printer and an iron to make pretty my corset.

    Look! It's Han Solo *swoons*

Hayden looks like he's actually munching on something....I always thought they just used prop food.

Anyways, I have a question. For those of you who know dyes well, what is the best brand to use for a pure polyester fabric? I found the perfect fabric for the corset -- finally -- but it is white. So I need to dye it. In the dye thread, the general feeling is that it will be difficult to dye this fabric, but that it can be done. I just need to know what dye will work best.

Ah man those pictures are so adorable.

    Can't wait to see movie.

Here's something that's a little off topic but much fun, I'm doing a Star Wars / Girl sleepover party, which consistes of just ravid fan girls and four wonderful movies all night!

I still can't believe one of my friend's hasn't seen the trilogy at all. So, it will be much fun to assimulate her to the Star Wars frenzy before Episode 2.

The Evening will be fallowed my Star Wars Trivia Pursuit and Star Wars Battleship.

I just thought I'd share, because it's what makes being a fan girl extra special.

I'd like to see guys have sleepovers talking Star Wars while painting their nails. HA!

    We get all the glory!

So, yes back to the subject in question:

I did manage to find some sites about crochet for those who where interested:

    http://www.craftown.com/crolesson.htm

    http://crochet.about.com/library/weekly/aa100398.htm

    These sites look pretty good.

So, now all I need is a pattern.

Does anyone have instructions on how to make the hair buns or suggest a pattern?

You guys have actually inspired me to tackle this dress. My Mom saw a picture of it and said the corset looked like a fancier version of my prom dress. So I'm thinking I can convert it to the dress using all removable things. Does anybody think this will work?

On the corset I'd find a sheer yellowish fabric to sew the roses onto. THen I'll somehow tuck it into under the existing corset.
To embroider the dress (and get rid of the tulle) I'd embroider the skirt than attach it to elastic forming a removable skirt.
And since my dress already has an underdress built in all I would have to make is an undershirt. LOL
And finally I'd create the cape the usual way.

I'm including a link to the picture so everyone can comment on whether or not this would work. This would actually be the first dress I've ever made.

    My prom picture.

Wow StarfromIHJ, that's a really pretty dress! I think it could be modified into the picnic dress pretty easily. I'll try to come up with some suggestions for you. :)

    Thank you!
The only thing is that it must be removable. My mother doesn't really want me to alter it. She wants me to save it for a wedding, even though I've only worn it once in 3 years (at my prom lol).

Well I finished my dress and wore it to prom on sunday. So many people came up to me and complimented me on it. However it is not an exact version of the dress. I left off the sleeves, and the shawl didn't have any embroidery or rosettes on it, nor did the skirt. Overall it looked really good, except for the fact that I was in such a rush to leave, as my date said we were late, that when I hemmed it it was way too long, so I needed to constantly keep a hold on the skirt to dance.

As soon as pictures come back I'll get them posted so you guys can see. :D
