He conquered fear and he conquered hate
He turned dark night into day
    He made his shining saber
A torch to light the way

There once was a saber from Naboo,
Which did what all other blades do,
    It chopped and sliced,
    And even diced,
But got stopped by a beskar shoe.

Did you know that this stick of light
Is quite useful in a fight
If you strike down your foe
He'll become more powerful that you can know
And to be honest, that wouldn't be bright!

I like it, but I mean, the darkness also uses them. They're red, but they still emit light

I really think the most poetic description is how the world was introduced to them

"Not as clumsy or random as a blaster. An elegant weapon for a more civilized age"

    I know that tune!

Old Ben's body has just vanished without a grave,
    His Force ghost marches on...

That quote (from the film) lacks any real sense of profundity. Instead it relies upon the glorification of the past; classically romantic yes, poetic nah. It smells like revisionist twaddle as well. Romanticism and revisionism can be key components of poetic verse, but when delivered in a flat one dimensional way they lack the deeper meaning that's required to elevate any given prose to a form that can be considered poetic.

Kyle's phrase can be viewed in several ways; as a literal statement, as a metaphorical statement, or it can even be viewed as a maxim/idiom/axiom. This adds the necessary texture and deeper meaning required to satisfy his own original request. Poetically describe a lightsaber. He has satisfied the criterea with a sublime brevity that makes it unimpeachable.

That's cool and all, dawg, but

Gatsby was just looking at a green light. It was green cause it was green

I think in the space movie for 12 year olds, Obi-Wan's line is more than poetic enough

"An elegant weapon, for a more civilized age".

Nothing more to be said, an already perfect description in 1977. The weapon for elegant, civilized warfare, when peace is no longer an option.

Blasters, on the other hand, are brutal.

This is the weapon of a Jedi Knight,
not as clumsy or random as a blaster.
An elegant weapon, for a more civilized age.
