    I need to find who it was who was arguing with me on here about "good billionaires like bezos vs bad billionaires like trump" so that I can ping them and then make fun of them some more.

    If I had to pick a supposedly good billionaire, Bezos would be rather low on my list. Then, well, not sure how I'd define "good" anyway.

    The only traits I feel can apply to billionaires are “competent,” “run-of-the-mill,” and “highly dubious.” Competent ones genuinely have actual business savvy to multiply their fortunes; their awareness to market trends can be useful, but also what can make them ruthlessly dangerous to attempts to curtail their power. Run-of-the-mill are guys who perform at about what you’d expect anyone born to privilige and not stupid to do; they’re lawyers and “people” see to more of their fortune’s increase than anything else. Highly dubious are your guys who clearly would have sunk and self-destructed a long time ago if not for the privileges of their class.

    “Good” and “Bad” need to be reserved for a different element than “Billionaire.”

    I never made a claim of there being good billionaires vs bad billionaires.

    @godisawesome
    if you look at interviews of some of the most liberal super rich from the financial sector, they usually come off as more likable than the average politician. Then, I don't know whether this qualifies as good as a general attribute.

    Amazon's still at it. This time from an Obama administration alum (you can find a lot of them in corporate positions like this). They're trying to distract from their awful conditions by bragging that they pay $15/hour minimum, which is lower than what warehouse workers normally get.

    Amazon can say whatever it wants about how it treats their workers but their workers are trying to unionize and Amazon is trying to stop them.

    Amazon workers can't pay dues, ya know. They barely make ends meet as it is!

    Who wants to pay dues? What would that be paying for anyway? Job security? Work place rights? Representation? Better benefits? Retirement funds & pensions? Assurance of wages? Job protection? Accountability from management? Dispute arbitration?

    But Amazon Prime costs like $130 a year and that comes with free shipping and at some point a new season of The Marvelous Mrs. Meisel.

    I mean, Bill Gates has become one, but you don't succeed in any system without being ruthless when it counts.

    People like George Soros, Ray Dalio and among the "poorer" ones John Bogle (he "only" had about 80 millions when he died) tend to make much sense to me in the interviews I've seen. Then, with this premise, I maintain that no person should ever reach those grotesque levels of wealth.
