TV Discussion [Poll] If Barriss Offee is the female inquisitor from S2, what should be her fate?

Two options I see for that route are she turns away from being an inquisitor and Vader kills her for that, or she winds up failing him and he gives her the Vader trademarked force choke and "Apology accepted."

 

I'm completely against the idea of Barriss being redeemed. As Yoda says, "Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny." By having Barriss be redeemed not only does it undermine the danger of the dark side, but it also belittles Vader's redemption by making it less special. I'm not totally against the idea of other dark siders finding redemption, but having one do so this close to Vader's would irritate me.

Maybe she's killed by the other Inquisitor for failure of some kind?! That hat/helmet seems to have red lights acting as kinda artificial extra eyes or something, possible whatever is underneath is hooked up to those assassin/probe/torture droids and her crania/brain?!

As for Bariss, I'm not convinced that it is Bariss as that would ridiculously easy and the hat shape was a red herring or coincidental. But kudos to those who want her back in some capacity - I'm just not 100% sold on this particular character being her, I would prefer an original character where its not degrees of playing Kevin Bacon nonsense but Lucas did like his rhyming like poetry, so never know. The Inquisitors seem to have OKed by Sidious before Vader can use them from what I read about the Premiere. Some of them could be former Jedi and from some of Filoni's comments, some Jedi were seduced by Sidious and swore allegiance to the Sith rather than die.

Some things I notice but I don't think mentioned before. Her hat/helmet reminds me of Pollux Assassin Droid from Republic:


This female Inquisitor, even if Bariss, is also stealing Ventress' style with the Morp Droids also from Republic:

 

Maybe Barriss might turn on the Empire and help the rebels (thats if Ahsoka forgives her for what she done to her)

 

If Lord Maul turns to the light after he's come so far Ima cut someone.

On Barriss, Vader kills her for failing to kill Ahsoka. I don't see Barriss killing herself like Inky did and I don't want Ahsoka to kill her out of revenge. She always had more self control than Anakin.

 

Anyway Whoever it is I can't wait.

 

Ahsoka wouldn't kill someone out of revenge, but if Barriss held Ezra hostage or otherwise gave her no choice, she would cut her down. If Barriss is indeed an inquisitor, that's not much different than a Sith, she will have fallen further and given herself to the darkside by serving the Emperor.

 

I think it will be poetic as George would put it if Ashoka deals the ending blow.

 

Why does everyone want Barriss to die? Would it not be punishment enough to be know as Inquee Offee?

 

Bombad and dead Bariss.Even if it is her, either Tano or Vader will kill her. Or she'll kill herself per the original TCW episode ending or like the previous Inquisitor.

 

Did you miss that the entire point of Return of the Jedi was that Yoda was completely wrong when he said that?

 

I think what some people want is for his wrongness to be unique - for every other attempt to redeem a darksider in history to have totally failed, making Yoda's belief make sense, since he's always been right before.

 

Bleh.

 

I must admit, I like the EU's redeemed villains - when they're repentant and always out to atone, even after others have forgiven them.

 

My motives are far less pure I am afraid, if Barriss stays bad she's surely going to buy the farm one way or another and then who am I supposed going to feel guilty about shipping Ahsoka with. That, and it would kind of rain on the Skywalker parade if we had Dark Siders redeeming themselves all over the place.

(I am not ashamed. I am not, at all. No sir. Okay maybe a little.)

 

The Skywalkers should not have to be the be all end all of all Star Wars. The saga already revolves around them.

I mean what could it Retcon.

But what people are not seeing is the PT and OT are about the skywalkers it's not the story of anyone else.

 

I refuse to believe that Anakin Skywalker is the first person in the history of the galaxy to be redeemed from the Dark Side. First Sith Lord, sure.

 

Except he hasn't "always been right before". Through the prequel era he was wrong about a whole slew of things. He got stuff wrong, made some bad choices and decisions, and it was counterproductive, it played into the enemy's hands. Yoda's bungling contributed towards Sidious taking control of the galaxy, corrupting the Chosen One, and wiping out the Jedi.
