I really hate to do this, but my ratings tend to easily change for newer films.

    TFA 5/10

    TLJ 3/10

    TROS 2/10

Everything good in TROS feels hollow when I think about it. Congrats to TLJ for moving up a spot, I guess.

Can someone add another poll option for those of us who disliked all of them? Otherwise, I can’t really vote.

I dislike them all - they're all below zero and should not have been made, period. I voted TLJ for what I "liked best" (LOL), because it is the one I dislike the least - it has the smallest magnitude below zero.

I love The Rise of Skywalker more everytime I view it. I was on the fence at first, but, as a Star Wars movie, it's the better of the trilogy. As a movie per se, The Last Jedi is better.

    1. The Rise Of Skywalker
    2. The Last Jedi
    3. The Force Awakens

That probably describes my feelings the best as well. The Last Jedi is a superior film (and my favorite overall) but The Rise of Skywalker is just a hell of a lot of fun to watch.

TLJ is probably a better made film however TROS is just such a fun film that it wins out but I put both of them above TFA as TFA was fun and Han was excellent but just can't get the copy of ANH out of my thinking it was just an old story told with some new characters.......

First time back here in years - for some reason the new film has made me want to reconnect with my fellow fans...

Anyway, this film has thrown me. I've always had trouble ranking the SW movies, and to be fair it's just a case of varying degrees of love, but on first viewing (and reflection) I had the ST as 7-9-8, but on second viewing (and further reflection) I've actually settled on 9-8-7!

Despite all the 'retcon rhetoric', I personally think 9 strengthens 8 and allows it to take its natural narrative place.

It's very close but I really enjoyed TROS enough to give it the edge. Sure there was a lot missing that I was expecting which would have pushed it up to the top five. It was a nice adventure with a hige reveal, KOR was there as a menace, Kylo and Rey had a much longer duel(s), a huge space battle (didnt show enough), a ground (on ship) battle, closed loose ends and i enjoyed the ride and the ST overall. TFA was a great setup and pulled in many new fans while making semi fans larger fans. It revealed new very likeable characters and showed the ones we grew up with much older and in need of each other. TLJ pushed boundaries and had wonderful cinematography but lacked in story and had pointless adventures (Canto Bight). See my rewrite on it in TLJ tab. Love the duel with the guards and Crait.
Overall we as fans never thought we'd get an Episode 7 or a 7-9 so I'm happy for that.

The Force Awakens is my favorite, but I really loved TLJ and TROS. It's relatively close. It surprises me a little that TROS and TLJ have better ratings in this poll so far than TFA, which I always figured was generally a crowd pleaser while the subsequent two are more divisive. Interesting. I mean, I kinda get it; it could be argued that TROS was the most fun, especially coming after TLJ. I'll be very curious to see how these movies will be rated by fans in like a decade or more, putting some distance to when they were new, which is now. Similar to the PT reexamination here almost 15 years after it ended.

I guess TFA seemed better in the first instance because it opened up several possibilities of where the story would go. Now after TROS is finished, it could be argued that TFA is made a weaker film for it.

    1. TLJ - I thoroughly dislike every decision that was made in the writing of this movie, but I find it the most interesting and entertaining of the three, and I kind of enjoy the middle finger that Johnson throws up at Abrams, even though it comes at the expense of characters like Luke.

    2. TFA - Soulless and derivative cash grab that leans on nostalgia with no understanding of the story Lucas told, but some fun scenes.

    3. TROS - An absolute travesty about nothing but a tedious repetitive search for MacGuffins, with no logic applied to anything whatsoever, already hampered beyond repair by the corner that Johnson painted the story into. With this film, the annihilation of every character as well as the Force itself reaches its fulfillment.

As for TROS’s placement at the top of the poll, I think that can only be attributed to the fact that it’s brand new. I’m not trying to invalidate anyone’s honest opinions, but I strongly suspect that this will shake out differently in a few years.

But that's what you're doing. A lot of people love TROS - myself included - and not just because it's brand new. Your argument that every character, as well as the Force, is "annihilated" is completely absurd to me. It's just not at all what I see in the film - or the trilogy as a whole. So why would our opinions change with time (I mean, they might of course, but so could yours) when we're simply looking at the film in a different way than you do?

It seems to me that you’re trying to invalidate my opinion more than I’m trying to invalidate yours. All I meant was that generally new films tend to get rated higher, but over time that tends to change. That’s just what happens. When I said I wasn’t trying to invalidate anyone’s honest opinions, I meant it. I’m sure people come by their like of this film honestly, and I’m sure many will continue to like it. I take no issue with that whatsoever. Everyone is entitled to like or dislike whatever they like or dislike. My opinion about the annihilation of the characters and the Force is just that. My opinion. And I’m entitled to that as well

Sorry, I'm not trying to invalidate your opinion at all - my mentioning that your argument is absurd to me (important two words there, perhaps I should have underlined them to make it clear what I was doing) was to demonstrate that "TROS’s placement at the top of the poll, I think that can only be attributed to the fact that it’s brand new" isn't the case.
Of course people's perception of a film changes with time, but this can work both ways - more people are talking fondly about TPM these days than back in '99 for example.
You are certainly entitled to your opinions, but you didn't frame it as just your opinion. You stated that the only reason TROS leads the poll is because of its newness. That's invalidating people's opinions.

@TCF-1138 I said I think it can only be attributed to its newness, so I most certainly did frame it as my opinion. I would never suggest otherwise, and if it came across that way then I apologize. I tried to choose my words carefully though, in a deliberate attempt to avoid that.

It's funny how this poll is so close but so glad TROS is leading,

The other trilogies OT and PT the winning movies TESB and ROTS are so far out in front not it's not even remotely close.

I loved TFA and I'm pretty surprised that it's now my second favorite entry in the ST. I didn't expect that going into TROS.

Rise of Skywalker is getting unfairly maligned by many as being unimaginative or timid. It's actually a pretty clever story in a lot of different ways, imo. It played a tough hand very well.

It solves or explains a lot for this trilogy and the saga more broadly. It moves extremely fast, but it's also very thick.

It's also the only ST movie that features the three new main characters out in the GFFA on an adventure together.

    1. TFA (7/10) - Loved this movie when it first came out, probably due to hype mostly (just look at my name and pic which were created at about the same time) It's a relatively fun and fast paced movie that feels competent in the technical aspects. It did what the prequels failed to do by giving me characters I had potential to like / care about, too bad the follow ups squandered that goodwill... The biggest issues with this movie come from its terrible lack of ingenuity. It felt like a very safe and corporate attempt at making a Star Wars movie.

    2. TLJ (6/10) - Feels more inspired that TFA but also has lower lows. I didn't like most of the creative decisions that were made. This movie has three plot threads, two of which fell completely flat for me (the ship chase and the pointless casino planet side quest). Partially saved by having some of the prettiest cinematography in the series.

    3. TROS (4/10) - It's probably because of fatigue but I was extra critical of this movie as I watched it in the theater. I could just never get sucked in. There were so many stupid choices made in this movie. Lando and Palpatine felt like more uninspired callbacks to the OT, Finn and Poe have become generic action heroes, the new side characters like Janna and Poe's ex gf or whatever added nothing to the film. Even the soundtrack didn't stand out to me which is a first for a saga film. I honestly don't feel like watching this movie again, it made me feel the same way I felt when I finished the lame Hobbit trilogy- tired and burned out.

    1) TFA.
It brought me back to Star Wars, joyfully.
    It gave us Perfect characters.
    It's just fun.

    2) TLJ.
It gave us the emotional meat of the trilogy. The conflicts and relationships.

    3) RoS.
I just haven't been able to absorb it.
Maybe I am feeling what many felt back with TFA... that their headcanon is full and they just didn't want to have to squeeze anymore of it in.
Maybe time to see it again.

Not sure if this is the right thread for this (can’t find the review thread), but TRoS has now fallen to a 52% critic score on RT, which now makes it the lowest-rated on the site of all the live action films... Damn shame. I really liked this movie. I wish I had more people to share my enjoyment of it with. Guess it was always just destined to be divisive tho, no matter what. :/
