Rakata and the Yuuzhan Vong would fit well in Live Action bring back Ancient Sith like Marka Ragnos or Exar Kun in the New Canon

An eventual invasion by an extragalactic species is inevitable, I think. The space orcs will come!

Don't post that on a public board! Somebody at DLF might read it and think it's a good idea.

A full on Sith war, or Nightsister sect with their hordes of zombies, or a Mandalorian army as the bad guys (the way it should always have been). I always thought pirates would be cool, but Skeleton Crew made them a bit too much like the ‘thuggee’ of Star Wars.

Pirates can be a good foil but never as the main bad guys. I like to see a droid Revolution

I wouldn't mind a Disciples of Ragnos type cult popping up and Rey and the nascent Jedi Order having to deal with them.

To paraphrase a more successful man than I: “No Vader type villains, no Palpatine type villains, no giant super weapons.”

The fact that the filmmakers of TFA actively chose to rehash a lot of the OT doesn’t mean that every other Star Wars thing has to abide by that same level of laziness.

It was dumb in the EU, was actively called out and mocked within the EU. Readers got sick of it, so did the creators and so did the characters themselves in-universe.

And it’s telling that the one major story from that era that tried to avoid those tropes is the one they’re utilising on screen.

I've been staring at both of your comments for five minutes trying to figure out what the hell any of this has to do with the European Union. I have officially been reading about politics for too long today.

I think pirates could still work as major villains, but you’d have to look at more powerful, non-Golden Age of Piracy inspirations for them, like Ching Shih and her “Pirate Empire” provide a template a for a massive, well-equipped genuine powerhouse, or Viking Warlords looking to become members of Europe’s aristocracy…

…Or simply make more interesting older factions become piratical while maintaining their edge - like a Mandalorian pirate lord, or an Imperial flight baron with a hyper-customized pirate star fighter.

weren't the Sith originally referred to as Pirates in the first draft of "Adventures of Luke Starkiller"?

    For ideas beyond
    -the typical Sith/Sith-in-all-but-name,
    -Imperials/Imperials-in-all-but-name/warlords,
    -and generic gangsters/pirates/underworld
...what do folks think of the following:

    1. If the High Republic era - the Nihil featured in a live-action movie

    2. an antagonist wanting to create a Hive Mind - not for their will to dominate the Force, but for all wills to be joined in harmony as one in order to end all conflict (but still losing individuality)

    3. Light-side antagonists who aren't truly villains, think of splinters some years/decades after a Jedi Order Schism (but not along lines of dark/light, but maybe they serve different republics in a multipolar galaxy,...or decentralized Jedi being over-policed by a government and a different and more centralized Jedi order who wants them to be registered and subservient like an allied centralized Jedi order is to them, basically Robin Hood Jedi versus King Arthur Camelot Jedi)

    4. A live-action movie set in the Clone Wars featuring one of the idealistic Separatist heroes, fighting for independence of their homeworld without the corporate/droid support, with Jedi Generals and Republic officers as noble antagonists who just don't want to respect their freedom/independence

    5. A live-action movie with the return of the Megacorporations, in a different era than the prequels (their return in the New Republic era, or post-TROS era?)

    6. the Yuuzhan Vong coming to canon, very similar to their Legends version

    7. a Jedi-like group following a Rebel group like Saw Gerrera's Partisans, fighting for freedom against the galactic power, but willing to make moral sacrifices (like the deaths of civilians) to make it happen, and the government is the Old Republic while it's corrupt but not yet at the level we see in TPM ... or perhaps it's this kind of story but with Hutt Slave Rebellions, following Jabba's death

    8. a darksider group that is more interested in destruction than conquest, they want to rebuild the Exegol fleet of planetkillers but use them to just destroy every planet, believing life is an abomination and only death will bring peace ... not your typical darksiders, nor Sith wannabes/clones

    9. a darksider group that just wants to destroy the government and/or Jedi out of envy - they don't want to rule, they don't want power, they have no ideological goal, they don't care what comes after, they just want to current iterations of both to end... unique in that they want to overthrow and destroy, but have zero ambition to take-over

    10. a live-action movie focused on Pius Dea, the Human Supremacists who ruled the Republic in the distant past for about a century, including getting some Jedi over to their side, persecuting nonhumans while still a republic just one where the majority voted to abolish some rights for nonhumans for a time (also could show this leading to more droid persecution and a droid rebellion helping the nonhumans)

1- Nihil are kind of one note and uninteresting outside of Marchion Ro himself.
2- Sounds too similar to Star Trek for my liking.
    3-hmmm
4-Instant aversion to another Clone Wars/Prequel era thing.
    5-Timely
    6-hmmm
    7-hmmm
8/9- Kind of just sounds like nihilistic Sith.
10- I think the High Human Culture is a bit too inside baseball for a mainline SW entry. They haven’t even properly established the Empire as xenophobic outside of the publishing.

Have another 10 ideas on my desk by Monday morning.
