[hl=black]Predict the OSCARS!![/hl] The nominations for the 83rd Academy Awards have been announced. As have in past years, we're going to host another Predict The Oscars contest! A big thank you to Captain_Typho for the original suggestion and to droideka27 and Tyi-Maet_Nefer for hosting it before. Here's how the game works: [blockquote][li]Now that this thread has been posted, the game has begun.[/li] [li]The game ends at 3 p.m. boardtime on February 18th[/li] [li]To participate, please copy the list of nominations below and select one under each category and then post your picks in this thread. (This means if you neglect to pick in one category, you are missing out on the chance for a point that others are getting ... so don't forget any categories!)[/li] [li]You can change your picks after your initial vote by merely reposting your list and indicating that this is the updated version. Do NOT post indicating that you want one thing changed on a previous post of yours. This could get overlooked and mess up your results![/li] [li]No changes will be allowed past the deadline.[/li] [/blockquote] To make hours of less work for me, this year, copy and paste the post above you and add your name in the proper category. For example: BEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME The King's Speech: Lord of the Rings: NYCitygurl The Godfather: The_Loyal_Imperial X-Men: BartSimpson-SithLord, Tyi-Maet_Nefer The Princess Bride: Copy and paste all the categories, and add your name under your choice. You don't have to do colors or bold to make yur choice stand out, since everyone's choices will end up on the same list. And the Rewards: [blockquote]After the Oscars have been given out, I will go over all the submissions and will determine the winners. They will be scored one point for each accurate guess. The person(s) with the highest number of right guesses will receive 72 hours of colors and the title "C&G Predict The Oscars Winner." Second- and third-place prizes of 48 and 24 hours will also be given.[/blockquote] Extra Rules: [blockquote][li]Only one final vote per person allowed. Anyone caught voting with socks will be disqualified.[/li] [li]Feel free to converse about the Oscars in this thread, but anyone exhibiting severely rude behavior (banable behavior) might additionally be disqualified from the game.[/li] [li]For your knowledge as well, head over to [link=http://boards.theforce.net/board.asp?brd=10382]the Amphitheatre[/link] regarding the Oscars. If you're interested in such action, since this is more of a game thread, it's open to anyone to visit.[/li] [/blockquote] If you have any questions feel free to PM me or post them in this thread. Good luck and enjoy!

I actually somehow managed to miss a whole column of movie Thanks for the catch. I edited them into Lily's post for the next person to copy. Lily and Loyal, you can change your guesses if you wish.
Don't mention it. I would vote myself, but I haven't seen enough of them. I'm still trying to see as many as possible before it starts Sunday.

That's not the point. I refuse to vote in a category unless I've seen all of the films in it*. I want to at least finish the Best Picture and Screenplay nominees before Sunday's show (five to go!). I think I'm going to watch The Ides of March in a bit, even though it's nearly 1:30 in the morning. *Except for Transformers and Real Steel, because they look horrible. And I stopped watching 40 minutes into Bridesmaids because I hated it. Either way, so far I've seen: Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close The Help Hugo Midnight in Paris Moneyball War Horse (just finished watching a little while ago) Margin Call Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy A Better Life Rango Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 The only one I saw before two weeks ago was Harry Potter. I've been able to get access to: The Artist The Descendants The Tree of Life A Separation The Ides of March Albert Nobbs The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo The Iron Lady My Week with Marilyn Warrior Beginners Kung Fu Panda 2 Puss in Boots Bullhead Hell and Back Again If a Tree Falls: A Story of the Earth Liberation Front Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory Pina The Adventures of Tintin Rise of the Planet of the Apes Drive Anonymous Jane Eyre The Muppets Rio I'm not worried about seeing the shorts. I couldn't get access to any of them anyway, and either way it's features that I focus on. It's a shame I can't find Footnote, because the trailor struck me as really interesting. No way am I going to finish all of these before Sunday at 4, but I'll do my best! Oh, and I think so far my favorites have been Hugo and Midnight in Paris, though I thought they were all pretty good except for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, which I couldn't really get into. One thing about the Oscars is that even if they don't choose the movie you prefer to win or be nominated, they usually still select decent films in general, at least for most categories.
