Until recently, it was never acknowledged on air that Bray and Bo were related. Rowan's association was known and acknowledging Harper/Lee and Bray, as well as being released, creates some extra gravitas to his story.

The Ringer with an absolutely fantastic piece on the 1989 Terry Funk-Ric Flair feud.

First of all, holy crap. How was that 35 years ago? I'm so freaking old.

But I vividly remember watching the Flair-Steamboat match, and then being in awe at the carnage and destruction Funk brought about in the attack of Flair. Young Inty was just mesmerized by it, it was like nothing I'd ever seen before. I'd seen hardcore matches, and barbed wire matches with Dusty Rhodes and the Road Warriors. But nothing quite like watching someone who was thought to be there in a non-wrestling role hitting a piledriver on top of table against the current World Champion.

Funk was so good in that role, that as much as L'il Inty hated Ric Flair, I couldn't wait to see Flair tear into Funk when they finally had that first match at Great American Bash, and I loved the Sting/Flair vs. Muta/Funk match at Halloween Havoc (despite the campiness and botches, it still holds up today IMO) and the I Quit match they had was textbook for how to end a feud.

The stuff looks so tame compared to what we see week in and week out now on our weekly televised wrestling. Even if some of Funk's spots are still banned by television executives and can't be repeated.

What a glorious trip down memory lane that article was.

 

A very forgettable Collision last night with, I'm pretty sure, zero stories advanced. Followed by a very forgettable Battle of the Belts that featured two eliminator matches, zero AEW belts being defended, and the only championship on the line being a recently vacated one many of us thought (hoped) had gone away forever thanks to a recent unification match.

That is ... Not good. Dynamite 250, Blood and Guts, and Royal Rampage had given some great momentum ... And then that.

Really, the only highlight of the night that mattered was Toni Storm - who continues to be the best thing in AEW - giving this post match promo
