One of the best films ever and possibly my favourite film too.

The score, the story and the characters are just perfect. It defined the action blockbuster with scene after scene of quality set pieces.

The comedy hits the mark in this one whilst it may not do in later films.

I think this is john Williams best work too.

Is there a plan for this thread, or are we just making it up as we go?

Sallah: "They have not one brain among them. Except for one. He's very clever. He's a French archaeologist.
    Indiana Jones: What's his name?
    Sallah: They call him Bellosh.
    (laughs)
    Indiana Jones: Belloq! Belloq.

I always liked this quote. I always laugh with Indiana.

This movie is special to me for a lot of reasons. It was an absolute treat to see this with my older sister at a rinky dink theatre when it was released, one of my most favorite film going memories ever.

It is a wonderfully entertaining movie that has lost none of it's excitement, fun or wonder so many viewings later. I am still a bit disappointed my screenwriting teacher did not use the script for the class.

But, too, I realize what a strong impact this film has on my writing.

It's one of the very few perfect films for me. I just love it.

When Indy and Sallah discovered the ark, that was a great moment in the film. The music, the spectacle of the ark itself. Also I loved the scenes with the ark itself. How it burned off the swatstika off the wooden crate and had the rats going all haywire. The sound in that specific scene was great too. The beginning sequence was also amazing with the idol. I always laugh at the scene where Indy jumps in the plane to escape and there is a huge snake in there with him. I hate snakes myself, just about as much as he does! So that scene always makes me squirmish.

Funny, I have the exact same attachment to this film. Sadly, she lost the Cooler Older Sibling crown when she made me see Amittyville II: The Possession with her (incest subplot in a bad horror flick..some babysitter). When my brother took me to see Return of the Jedi, the title was his for good.

Memorable film ,an amazing action-packed ,funny and deep adventure and one of the best motion pictures in cinema's history IMO .(I could write more but now I'm too lazy:p)
It feels more like a regular film and the others in the series feel more like Indiana Jones movies.(I don't mean that its bad but the others are more about the character of Indy IMO)
The ending is still amazing/climatic and in a way terrifying.

One of the few perfect movies for me. I love Raiders (as you can tell from my art piece I did that's my avatar). The actors were perfectly cast. From the main characters to the supporting ones (how great was Toth? Even the random Nazis were cast just right) to the music, storyline, pacing, action, etc.

It truly captured that feeling of going to the movies and escaping for two hours in pure cinema goodness.

I like René Emil Belloq more :p.
Regardless Major Arnold Toht is still a great villain.
(BTW IMO Oberst Hermann Dietrich is underrated)

I let the cast of villains to be five. The reason is the tough sergeant was worthy and punched Indiana Jones in his bullet wound which is nefarious. I would place him as sixth most likely because he was worthy and did beckon Indiana Jones to fight.
