So, did the good guys win the Supreme Bowl or what?

 

Why is it called Super Bowl anyway? Do you win a bowl? Does it take place in a giant bowl? Whatever it is, I feel like a bowl of ice cream.

 

It started off as a game between the Champions of the National Football League and the American Football League. At the time, the NFL thought of itself as far superior to the newer AFL league (both were pro leagues though). But Lamar Hunt, one of the founders of the AFL (and the founder/owner of the Kansas City Chiefs), thought the AFL could prove him wrong. So they agreed to have their Champions play each other. Hunt somewhat jokingly said it would be like a "Super Bowl" game (since in college football there are numerous bowl games instead of really having playoffs or a normal national champion tournament). The name stuck.

The first Super Bowl was played between the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Packers won 35-10, but since it wasn't a total blowout they kept doing it. By Super Bowl III, the AFL Jets beat the NFL Colts 14-7. In Super Bowl IV, the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-7. After this, the NFL ate their hat and finally admitted the AFL was as good as they were. The two leagues merged and the old NFL teams became the NFC, and the AFL teams became the AFC. The two conference Champions continue the Super Bowl today.

A bright point came when, at the height of the orgiastic fervor during the pre-game show, Caligula returned from the grave to declare that his horse would be paying Tight End for the Packers.

If the contest was getting the lyrics to "The Star-Spangled Banner" wrong, then yes.

 

I like her version better. And good on her for not lip-synching.

The good guys didn't even make it to the super bowl.

 

It would've been hard for them to, considering they were cancelled by Fox a couple months back. My heart goes out to Bradley Whitford and Colin Hanks, wherever they are.

There are so many posts I want to post "This" under like DT421's, Frieda's, yankee's, to name a few but I realize that would be stupid and lazy. But then I'm American so, why be different? Also, there are no grizzlies in Memphis. Why, why, why is our NBA team still called "the Grizzlies"???

We used to have a sport like that, but we fixed it so that everyone continues to have a great time indefinitely until someone wins.

I'll take the Super Bowl any day over a bunch of drunken idiots throwing bricks and molotov cocktails at each other in the stands. If I wanted to watch a re-enactment of Braveheart I'll turn on my DVD player. Maybe the reason they riot in the first place is because of all those 0-0 scores. They're so bored they just snap.
