Super quiet around here. I suppose it's time to start spamming the thread with Grievous pictures again.
I know that Mr. Forest quite enjoyed one that I posted last night.

Anyway, General Grievous quite simply rocks.

    The post above. How ironic.

I saw your previous post appear above mine when I submitted it. [face_laugh] How ironic.

Did you like the picture you asked for last night? I couldn't quite gauge it from your reply ;)

    Yeah, that was weird timing!

But that pic...oh man. I felt for Grevious.

And now to end my post: Nuclear Man just literally took a human into space without a space suit and the human is fine. WTF Superman IV? And here I was thinking the scene with Superman staring at a wall and fixing it was the moment the movie jumped the shark.

Heh heh. That was my intent;). I noticed your post saying 'this thread is making me feel sad for Grievous'.
I envy the person who drew it. The title's So Weak, and it's become my favourite SW art.
I love anything which makes me sympathetic for him. Never really been able to view him as a monstrous villain. I like the depiction of him as an anti-hero.
Somehow I've become really attached to him. I don't really know why. I tried to explain in a very long post in the fan club thread, but I don't think I nailed it.

Superman IV on the other hand... just don't go there. Really, don't.

Somehow Grievous does get an outsized proportion of the female fanbase. Dunno why though.

Also Nute Gunray getting stuck in the loo would be a fantastic scene and perfectly complement Lucas' favoured slapstick.

KaleeshEyes I hope to see some more Grevious backstory for the official canon. He could really use some more fleshing out.

I have finished Superman IV and it was terrible. Thankfully all the returning cast made it at least some what tolerable, but everyone new was way out of their league. Now having seen all four Reeve films:

    Superman: The Movie (1978) - 8/10
    Superman II (1980) - 7/10
    Superman III (1983) - 3/10
Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987) - 2/10

    Overall: 5/10

I'd love to see that too, but I think they'd try make him a shallower character who chose his path to evil like all the other villains in SW.
His original backstory, although very choppy, disjointed and a little nonsensical uniquely has evil being forced upon an honourable, turning him into a monster. He becomes a servant to Sidious/Palpatine, but unlike Gunray and Dooku he had no choice. That's what gives the emotional depth to his character, and any deeper story should be based on that. Plus you can have a divided character where his more humane self still exists deep down, in his soul.
I think Lucas, Filoni and co are just inclined to make him a shallow stereotypical villain though, which is a real shame.
I also doubt we'll get anything on him in the near future. Disney doesn't seem to want to touch the PT stuff at the moment. At university there was a poster sale recently (I picked up a set of OT theatricals). Out of about 25 or so options there was not a single PT related one. Not One. It's like those films don't exist!

Anyway, me and DarthCricketer have decided we should make a General Grievous movie (which may involve de-canonising part of RotS) or even trilogy. He'll write the screenplay and story with me, CIS Droid can provide creative support and... You can only dream.

    Hello there!

Good to see that hardly anyone is about at this time again.

I've only seen the first ('78) Superman film, and apparently, I missed the lighter sort of character establishing scenes, and stayed for the boring romantic ones. The only parts I've seen of Superman IV were on the Honest Trailer; suffice to say, it looked .... odd.

Edit — Just thought how snarky "Hello there" sounds when accompanied by my avatar.

Sounds like a fun task. While I do not have the same enthusiasm for Grevious, I would love to see anything you guys come up with. :)

Oh we'll never actually write anything. I have better things to do then write movies. Like study for biology:mad:
I am however writing a couple of fanfics. Hopefully one'll be done soon, but I think uni is about to get busy. I've also being drawing, but I'm not brilliant at that.

This thread needs some more music. I've been on a really big Judas Priest binge over the past week or so.
'Some heads are gonna roll' Could be describing many Star Wars scenes. There's a lot of decapitation and severed limbs.

Ya think an 18 year old uni student studying a science degree has much hope of writing movies?;):D I'm just trying to pass the semester first[face_hypnotized]
As I said You can only dream. Boy do I dream about redeeming his character. You may get to see some of my writing and drawing in the near future:)

Keep rockin' hard and ridin' free.

I don't think that either KaleeshEyes or I have any connexion with anyone anywhere near the right place.

Anyway, always liked these, particularly as the voiceover reminds me of Jeremy Clarkson's exaggerated enunciation:

And speaking of General Grievous' inhaler:

I'm sure we will get some more Grevious stories down the line, and hopefully the stories will expand on the character. In fact, I am expecting you to write some Best Seller books at the very least. :p Or maybe just make some good fan comics.

I love Screen Junkie's Honest Trailer series!

I suggest you try watching Oliver Harper's Retrospective reviews for The Superman Motion Picture Anthology.

Thanks :D:D:D I will try to fulfil my writing destiny [face_laugh]

But seriously I don't think we'll get anything on him in the near future. Ten years at least is my bet. And I fear it would further destroy his original anti-heroic backstory.
I look around the internet (not the best source, but the only one) and he seems to be a bit of an object of mirth, or just ignored. A shame as his design is superb and I think he should have been an icon of sorts, certainly more so than Darth Maul. He's just so unique amongst the main SW characters in looks, and the thing about episode III is that he looks real, unlike some of the other minor figures who are super obvious CGI.

He'd make a great movie though. It's make a great chance to turn him into a great, deep character.
I can already see the poster 'Starring: Matthew Wood, and his computer'

In regards to Grievous (HOW LONG HAVE I BEEN MISSPELLING HIS NAME?!) in ROTS, I agree that he looks real. Just look at this close up below. Okay, the effects are noticeable now, but they still look outstanding to me especially in motion.

    Hah hah hah! Grevious.
I also struggle with that. I very often end up with Greivous. The thing is it's not a common word, and that spelling doesn't immediately look wrong.
'I before e except after c' they say.
