Oil separation in peanut butter is perfectly natural :)

Let me clarify something that was on the second page-- the Necromancer ('dead diviner') was Sauron, not Saruman. :)

When you eat a lot of peanut butter, as I do(and I do, believe me), the jar usually doesn't last long enough for that to happen.

So, my question of the shelf life of Peanut Butter is still in the air.

Checking the label I see it's made from peanuts and sugar and 2% or less of the following; molasses, partially hydrogenated vegetable oil (soybean), fully hydrogenated vegetable oils (rapeseed and soybean), mono- and diglycerides and salt.

Now, separately all of these items could last for years in your kitchen cupboard. So does that mean... Peanut Butter is SUPERFOOD?! Would it beat Spam for shelf life?

Oh... and... in a knock down, drag out.. Legolas or Luke?

    Luke v Legolas...hmm... I dunno.

Here's another few to get stuck in to:

    - Sarumon v Vader

    - Sauron v Yoda

    - Gollum v Sebulba (maybe not as obvious as you'd think.)

    - Chewbacca v a Ruffian.

    - Gandalf v Dooku

    - Balrog v Sidious

Think carefully and you may be surprised at the probable outcome.

I think Luke would probably beat Legolas. Legolas's arrows would prove no match for Luke's lightsaber. Also I believe Vader would probably defeat Saruman.

    -Luke vs. Legolas
    Luke would definately win.

    - Saruman v Vader
    Probably Vader.

    - Sauron v Yoda
    Sauron

    - Gollum v Sebulba (maybe not as obvious as you'd think.)
    Gollum looked more realistic :p

    - Chewbacca v a Ruffian.
    Chewie.

    - Gandalf v Dooku
It's kinda early to say, but I think Gandalf would win.

    - Balrog v Sidious
Okay, 20 Sith have a chance, but just one???

    Gollum wouls eat him alive.

    - Chewbacca v a Ruffian.
    Chewie.

    - Gandalf v Dooku
    Gandalf!!!!

    - Balrog v Sidious

BTW just finished the two towers and i was completely blown away.
now i cant wait to see gollum and the huge battles and...so much more.
the reason i started reading LOTR was to pass the time before AOTC and boy did i underestimate the books.
cant wait to pick up return of the king now.

Cool!! I love the way that book ended. Such a great way to make you pick up the next book right away. I wont ruin it for anyone. Or are you going to wait to see the film version of TT before reading Return of the King?

A word of warning DARTHSURPRISE. Return of the King is nothing but a few chapters of action and then half the book is a conclusion. It is very good but you must be patient and be interested in knowing what happened to EVERYONE in the novels.

I'm sure you'll love it, though.

I'm a little surprised that everyone thinks Sauron would kick Yoda's ass. I think Yoda is way more powerful than he's letting on along with Sidious.

However, as I seem to be alone in my opinions who do you all think is the strongest character in LOTR which Yoda and Sidious COULD beat (or is atleast a match for. ) ?

Out of curiousity (it's a long shot) Is there anyone from The Tolkien Society here? That would be great!

Sauron vs Yoda = (we've never really seen how powerful Yoda is have we?)

    Gollum vs Sebulba = Gollum

    Chewie vs Ruffian = Chewie

    Gandalf vs Dooku = Gandalf

    Balrog vs Sidious = Balrog

I think Yoda would win against Sauron. "Size matters not" and all that, y'know?

Perhaps a better question (with Sauron being evil personified in the novel) is the power and spirit of Sauron and his followers v the power of the force and the Jedi.

P.S- If anyone feels I'm sort of stunting this thread just say. I know there's more to talk about that a v b.

Well, if the Jawa had a blaster then obviously it would win, and if it didn't then obviously Gimli would win.

I have another thing to clarify from the second page.

I don't think the "Ring of Fire" is an actual ring. I think it means a circle of fire. This is what he was talking about on the Bridge. "I am a servant of the secret fire. Wielder of the Flame of Anor..."

The Ring of Fire is another name for Narya the Great, one of the Three Elvish Rings. It was originally Círdan the Shipwright's Ring, but he gave it to Gandalf.

    TTT movie spoilers ahead

I heard that there might be an army of Elves fighting at Helm's Deep! And that they're gonna have new weapons like crossbows and fire arrows. Sounds cool, dosen't it? The only bad thing is that it would kinda ruin the "Elves fading during the Third Age" idea. But I hope it's not just a rumor. I want to see the Elves fight!

Have yoe read the Silmarilion Alderaan_?? Or how do you know all this? And I dont think they'll have crossbows. Because I only saw normal bows in the trailer. It would be dumb if they had crossbows

well i plan on getting started on return of the king right away- I have NO idea how it will all wrap up and i'm dying to know. i dont feel like i'm spoiling myself tho because even after all the movies are out, the books will still be the definative versions of LOTR. I just hope that the movies wont seem like a big letdown compared to the books.
as far as the conclusion of LOTR with ROTK- i'm gonna keep an open mind. if they wander around middle-earth for the majority of the book, so be it. this story dosent seem to be at all conserned with telling an action-packed story, but that's fine. as long as the end makes sense, that is all i ask.

Question...Anyone else speak Elven, even a little bit? Cuz I think it's a really cool language and I am learning.

I brought this up in the trivia thread already, but I find this really interesting...Endor means Middle Earth in Elven.
