It looks phenomenal. Familiar to the CT but completely its own thing.

 

Wow. I think the trailers have been deliberate deception. It's like they filmed two similar, but different movies. I kinda of want to see that other movie.

One more day of dodging, for me, before seeing whether I'll see what you mean, or whether I'll agree....

Meanwhile, I'm curious: Has there been a trailer that you feel represents what you did see in the theatre?

 

They represent the movie fine. Just dont assume you know precise moments in the film from them.

 

I saw the movie already and wasnt watching TV spots before it.. damn this one is amazing.. the music is so powerful!!! Love it!

 

Just thought I'd bump this, cos in amongst all the noise pre-release of both films, it's clear thinking like this that proves to be most illuminating and accurate

 

Sounds like it's a choice of rejecting the finished film because it doesn't feature everything seen in the trailers for an as yet unfinished film..

Or forgetting about the trailer for an unfinished film once you've seen the finished film.

Well, turns out I didn't like the film much just like I didn't like the trailers. Jyn's speech was a weak-point of the movie. So ... dunno, we can agree to disagree.

New tv spots show Rogue One as #1 movie in America.

 

It's gonna be #1 until February I think.

 

So on the topic of ads, trailers, and TV spots, I think Rogue One did a great job. We knew exactly what the film was about and all the important characters, yet there was still lots of surprises. Vader was confirmed, but his role wasn't overstated either... the opposite happened with Suicide Squad where Joker was made out to be a much more major character than he ended up being. Nice surprises like Tarkin and Leia were retained as well.

There was the slight issue with the reshoots, though. Small scenes were altered here and there - as with every Star Wars trailer to movie. I didn't find myself disappointed that much, but I guess I can see where some people were expecting certain scenes.
