Nah, next week. It’ll just be shots of the writer staring at his/her computer screen for 2 minutes but it’ll be exciting!

The guy who reported the story says it’s very possible that Patty Jenkins will move forward with Wonder Woman 3 instead of this for the foreseeable future.

He also said the Rogue Squadron script has already been extensively rewritten since the movie was first announced.

Yeah makes sense, the original story was probarly meh. So try to make a better story maybe connecting more to the ST era and having cameo's from known characters like tv shows are doing.

Not really as it has been considered by LFL since before 2019 and a script is already written.

If true, that follows the same thing Obi-Wan did.

With stories already set pre-OT and post-OT - jumping around that much in the timeline - for the next feature film - feels reckless and confusing for the general audience.

Don’t worry. Dave Filoni has provided extensive notes that will be handed out to the audience. The man thinks of everything!

Dave Filoni is the key to all of this.

I just hope that – assuming any of this is even true – pushing this to 2024 doesn't further mess with the scheduling of Jimbo's Avatar sequels (Avatar 3 is scheduled for 2024, and Disney has been planning to alternate between Star Wars/Avatar movies every other year).

Avatar is one of the few projects on this massive scale due out in the next few years that is still so inherently tied to its original creator (much like Star Wars was when Lucas finally came back to do the prequels) and that should be a pretty exciting prospect to watch play out over the next decade or so.

Cameron’s Avatar sequels are in the can already. I wouldn’t worry about them.

I wonder which film will make it into theaters first, RS or Top Gun 2.

Well, the second one's live action filming is complete, and I think 3's is close. Not sure of the status of 4 and 5.

That still leaves a lot of VFX/animation work to be done, of course... but what I'm wondering about mostly here is scheduling rather than production status.

Yeah, scheduling is the important thing. They're clearly not enthused about doubling up the end of the year with SW and Avatar releases, so that leaves them with a couple of options for Rogue Squadron, assuming it is being pushed back. They could release it earlier in 2024 to get it out of Avatar's way, though they might be a little resistant to this given how poorly Solo fared in May 2018 (I'd argue that there were other factors at play there that won't be relevant in 2024, but it's still something they'd have to consider). They also seemingly want to avoid back-to-back SW releases, but there's no reason why they couldn't change their minds on that one. Or they could push Rogue Squadron all the way back to the SW slot scheduled for December 2025, with the project that's currently meant to go there moved to 2027, and the 2027 project to 2029, and so on.

I don't predict them moving the Avatar sequels away from December, barring yet another delay. Avatar was obviously an astonishingly huge success in 2009, but it's been so long since then and the movie has arguably not stuck around in the public consciousness as much as one would expect. I don't think anyone's quite sure how successful they'll be and so December is a good spot for them, where there's nowhere near as much as blockbuster competition. SW is more likely to move around Avatar than Avatar is to move for SW.
