Tbh if we’re not talking his DC movies I like Nolan better. Those films just really connected with me.

BUT I can’t just exclude those 3 films lol

 

Nolan's movies are WAY better.

 

Sooo I was jamming to Billy Joel music today, inspired by y’all, & discovered a few things.

1. Moving Out & Big Shot may have to move up on my list of faves, those are so fun.

2. All of my faves, I still love.

3. An Innocent Man is a new fave now, had never heard it before but really liked it!

4. Here’s where I inevitably disappoint y’all: Uptown Girl came on, I’m listening to it & saying to myself, “Why is this on?! This isn’t one of his!” But then big OOF I remembered it was. Oops. I guess to my ears, it just doesn’t feel or sound like one of his songs.

Now onto random movie review time! Cause this is the other thing I’ve got on my brain. I’ll hide it so I can pretend I didn’t write this much in one post.

When the Bough Breaks - good movie! Bunch of hands with numbers are found, who is the killer? Lady detective investigates, works with a kid who has some connection to the case to solve it, psychic stuff maaaybe? Ron Perlman was in it only for like 5 min but was sufficiently evil. I liked the lady detective in it & how she worked with the kid. Overall enjoyed it, would watch it again (despite the total lack of a romance plot!).

Fear - no, not the one with Marky Mark, I mean the one with Ally Sheedy. But hey this one also includes action at a carnival, just of a different kind. Anyway, I liked the plot blurb going into it: psychic lady who can connect with folks’ minds via objects helps the cops, but then surprise! there’s a murderer who also has psychic abilities, & they connect & he wants her. OOOOH, I thought. But eh it could’ve been better, the writing was oof at times & Ally’s character drove me nuts, I kept yelling at her. But it was a fine movie to throw on when you’re doing stuff around the house.

True Crime/Dangerous Kiss - Ok tbh I loved this! Mostly cause it had stuff I could relate to - main gal Alicia Silverstone as a senior at an all girls Catholic high school, obsessed with true crime & solving cases. And wears glasses, & keeps them on practically the whole movie! I thought her character was awesome & really believable. And the whole vibe & look of the movie I really dug, the way it was shot & wardrobe & writing, & I liked the stuff with her & Kevin Dillion, how that plot unfolds. And lol, completely by coincidence this movie also has a few scenes at a carnival.

VJ may I recommend Laura and Where's the Orchestra from the Nylon Curtain. And yeah; Movin Out is just perfection. Big Shot is just classic angry Billy. (about Mick Jagger's hard partying girlfriend)
