Discussion Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy Star Wars Movie - NOT FILMING April 7th, 2024 (Blame Fredrik!)

Okay, isn't the bold part the same thing as the first part? Maybe not the sith, but still good vs evil?

Now, what we haven't seen is a division in a Jedi order based on how to handle the villain. One group wants more diplomacy after the villain's defeat where the other wants to take a more vengeance-based approach. Thus, causing a divide and the former group needing to stop the latter group. But there is/are relationship(s) that become divided out of this discord (kind of like how it happened during the Civil War). This could be an interesting approach for either the Rey movies or the Dawn of Jedi movies and how the Jedi became split.

 

This might not sound like sound corporate business sense, but they really need to prioritize strong world-building with the new slate of movies. The GFFA needs to draw people into a feeling of a vast sandbox where endlessly interesting stories can be told. If this is de-prioritized, it will be to the long-term detriment of the franchise. Even if they score a box office hit or two.

It goes without saying that the principal characters need to resonate. But the world-building being enticing, and promising more in the future, is just as critical.

 

I think LFL probably won’t be making announcements this month, but if they already have the cast then it’s out there waiting for a reporter to figure out

 

Yes, but it’s not the below, which I was disagreeing with:

 

Actually ESB, AOTC, and Solo didn’t have any space battles while TFA has I believe just a single scene of battling in space.

 

ESB had the all-time great asteroid field, and AotC had a weak lame copy of the same scene. I suspect most of us count those as space battles.

 

Solo also had a short space battle

Low key, Solo had best space battle/dog fighting of the Disney SW movies. Yes it was mimicking the OT but still good

There were spaceships in space shooting at other spaceships. Sounds like battles to me.

That was pretty good, but didn't hold a candle to R1.

 

I wonder if they'll have space fights in the Jedi origin movie(s). I mean-did they even have space travel back then?

 

Okay, the next time there’s a high speed chase I’m gonna call it the Battle of I-95.

 

There might be some aboveground floaty air battles similar to Joust.

Well looking at EU during this era they did, and we have Huyang who is 25 000 years old.

 

They chase the Falcon inside the Maelstrom as well.
