Does this apply to AO3? I know of at least one person there worried about Disney trying to claim their work.

If they do, the user should get some of the royalties. I know some authors in the JCF who DESERVE to have their works be canonized. =D= [face_love]

We all do. I remember being disappointed by episodes 2 and 3 because the fanfics made more sense.

I found some shows on streaming video that I would recommend during this lockdown:

Upload on Amazon Prime - people when they are about to die are able to upload their conscious to a paradise computer simulation. It is a romance/comedy.

Dead to Me on Netflix - this is a story about a really dysfunctional relationship between two women. I find it funny in a disturbing sort of way.

Penny Dreadful on Netflix - this is an older show but new to me. A lot of monsters who often get naked and have sex.

You on Netflix - I guess this could be a dark comedy. It follows the love life of a semi-likable sociopath.

Hollywood on Netflix - A disturbing look at Hollywood in the 1950s. A lot of sex. Not for kids.

After Life on Netflix - Ricky Gervais plays a depressed guy that decides he is just going to tell people what he thinks.

Lucifer on Netflix - Even if you don't like the plot Tom Ellis is so good looking. The first three seasons were done by Fox, but Netflix took over and things got steamier in season 4.

Lost in Space on Netflix - Remake of the 1960s show. The robot is much cooler in this show.

Love, Death and Robots on Netflix- a collection of weird short stories.

Russian Doll on Netflix - A twist on the movie Groundhog Day.

The End of the Fxxxing World on Netflix- Dark comedy/story about two really messed up kids. I think it is also a love story, but I am not sure.

Black Mirror on Netflix - This is basically a modern version of Twilight Zone.

Stranger Things on Netflix - A show based in the 1980s. Sort of like Goonies and Black Mirror mixed together.

The Handmaiden's Tale on Hulu - a dystopian future where only a small percentage of woman can conceive.

Castle Rock on Hulu - This is a Stephen King TV show with scary stuff happening.

Any suggestions for me? I like scary, weird or science fiction.

    BLAME!
on Netlfix - this is an anime film based on the manga by Tsutomu Nihei about a group of people inside a city the size of the solar system trying to survive while the managerial software runs amok and tries to kill them. Animated by POLYGON Pictures, the same studio responsible for portions of TCW. This hits all three as being both scary (the scrambling robot-like creations of the Safeguard are genuine nightmare fuel), weird, and science fiction.

Thanks @Mechalich. I don't know if I can handle the subtitles, but it looks like something my son will love.

There is a dubbed version, though I'm not sure if Netflix has to that one or not.

I LOVE Lucifer! It's so much better than it has any right to be. We watched the most recent season on our honeymoon because that's when Netflix dropped it and we love it so much. I really need to watch The Handmaiden's Tale. That might be what we watch next, currently we're watching Babylon 5.

My rec is one I mentioned in here a few days ago- The Expanse - it's on Amazon Prime and is one of the best if not the best Science Fiction show I've ever seen. It's kinda space opera meets character driven hard Sci Fi (as in it takes physics and science pretty seriously). It takes a few episodes to get into it, but every season gets better and better.

I'm already planning cosplay for it, and ordered parts to make a bounding outfit.

Yeah I love Lucifer. I can watch it over and over. Tom Ellis plays him so well. I'm watching it and thinking, "She's not good enough for the devil."

Another show I can watch and jump in at any episode is The Office.

I love Lucifer! I'm currently rewatching MASH because my brain can't handle anything more, and I told Mav I'd watch the Expanse but I also gotta rewatch some Lucifer, just for some Tom Ellis! Handmaiden's Tale is also on my "to watch" list and has been for years but I keep pushing it down because I can't easily access it (it was on a Canadian streaming service and I watched half of the first season but then that service got shut down and I haven't looked for it again because Hulu in Canada is not worth the price since so few shows are on there

Have you seen "I Am Not Okay With This"? It's about a girl who discovers she has super powers and it's really dark. I think I watched the entire first season (the only season so far) in one night. It's on Netflix.

I am in the mood for stories of Padme, would anyone like to point a few out to me? If so, I would be greatly obliged.

I've watched I'm Not Okay With This. That was pretty good. I started watching The Loop but lost interest. Maybe I should give it another try.

In that case I could recomend Lost to you. Kind of the ultimate classic when it comes to topics like that, and is also the show that really paved the way TV shows today, with long arcs instead of being mainly a collection of one of stories like in the past. Also watching it now and in a row has one understand much more of the story and be less confused. Arguably the show becomes even better on a second watch because on will notice a ton of details, hints and symbolisms from basically episode 1 onwards.

@Anedon I did watch Lost when the library got them on DVDs. It was interesting enough that I watched all available seasons.

I'd like to watch some of the old TV shows I loved as a kid: Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, Soap, Mork and Mindy, Hogan's Heroes, Three's Company, My Favorite Martian or Gilligan's Island. I am not sure how well some of those shows aged. What was perfectly acceptable 30-40 years ago may not be cool nowadays.

I'm currently watching MASH [though a number of those other shows from the 70s/80s are familiar with me because my grandmother watched them on satellite (Petticoat Junction and Bewitched were her two favourites)]. Some of the stuff regarding gender (treatment of women in particular) is MEGA cringe-worthy (plus the lack of any main characters of different races), but some of the stuff regarding sexuality and disability is surprisingly fine. You kinda have to view it through "this was 40 years ago and problematic and thankfully we have progressed a lot in certain areas."

Also, I must share my terrifying experience. I took out the garbage and recycling this afternoon and this was by the dumpster (not a spider!).

I'm very glad it was daytime! Global pandemic aside, part of me wanted to take it just to scare my sister or my mom, BUUUUUT I really didn't want it in my condo. Just walking by it creeped me out!

I watched all of Westworld on HBO. There are three seasons. It’s based on the old 1970s movie of the same name (starring Yul Brynner, based on the Michael Chriton novel). Excellent cast. The adult theme park Westworld is a place where people can live out their most depraved fantasies on the android “hosts” - until the hosts decide they’ve had enough. A great exploration of what it means to be human.

If you’re adventurous and willing to put up with subtitles, Amazon Prime has a great series called Detective Anna. (Russian) A young woman in a small Russian city uses her ability to speak to the dead to help the local detective solve crimes. Think Anne of Green Gables meets The Sixth Sense.

Another interesting subtitled show is Beforeigners on HBO. A rip in time sends people from the past (Stone Age, Vikings, & Victorian era) into modern Norway. A former shield maiden tries her best to integrate to the modern police.

I enjoy them both. I forgot to mention, Detective Anna is a period piece. It takes place around 1890. (Beautiful costumes!)

I'm watching it now. The first episode says 1888. I remember that because I thought, "That is the year my grandfather was born." My second thought was, "Damn, that makes me feel so old."

It is pretty good so far. I am not a fan of subtitles because I like to multitask while watching a show and having to read makes that impossible. It is a good show though.
