    It's the entertainment industry's job to make money. What makes Star Wars any different?

    Isn't the point of any film or film franchise to generate hype and make money? [face_thinking]

    I'm not criticising them for it, I'm simply being the voice of realism.

    Also, just the name Star Wars helps generate revenue.

    It just seemed odd to say that about Star Wars "these days." I think that describes SW any day.

    Whenever someone ever does anything the fans disagree with, it is in their minds always about money. Even if it isn't any more profitable than what the fans want, the idea that other people may have different opinions over what constitutes good story telling or that they want to do something different is inconceivable to many.

    And the Star Wars fandom is one of the better ones about that.

    Also important is that people can have more than motive: make money, have fun, get their ideas out there, entertain people...you can do all at once.
    Matter of fact, entertaining people is an important part of making money in the entertainment industry.

    To bring this back to Pegg, I could see people complaining that it is a publicity stunt if he wasn't a good voice actor, but I have seen a lot of people say that the voice works really well, so again, what is the problem.

    I would just like to say that I truly hate his guts and that to me he is the physical embodiment of everything that is wrong with the SW fanbase.

    It is people like him who make it trendy and hip to be not a fan of SW, but a fan of BASHING SW. For too many people the hipster pastime they want to be a part of is the one of pretentious, elitist hate. Not the one of Star Wars itself.

    Do you think these newcomers to the fanbase go to learn about Star Wars? As in actually go and watch the documentary's and stuff from all the old dvds and listen to the commentary's and learn about the basic history of SW and fandom throughout the decades?

    NO. They dont! they just hear the "cool, funny, hip" people like this guy Simon Pegg wearing the ironic zombie t-shirt (oh how original) and then go to watch the RLM youtube reviews and allll the other tired propaganda and that is what it is they want to be apart of. Then they go to the nearest hot topic and by themselves a "han shot first" t-shirt. Now they can call themselves "Star Wars fans Maaan!"

    And there it is. The biggest problem with the Star Wars fanbase today. What im trying to describe is people who are amazingly ignorant to 60-70% of Star Wars in general BECAUSE of this relentless prequel hate trend. People who learned on the internet that its "cool" to buy a 20 year old copy of the OOT at the nearest goodwill for $2, call George Lucas an evil nazi any chance they get and they think thats what a star wars fan is. They think they did it now. They are apart of the club. They are apart of the cultural phenomenon of star wars. Thats what they think. Well I have news for them....THAT IS NOT AT ALL what Star Wars is! That is NOT what your parents did in the late 90's or the 80's or the 70's. The hateboys want to be apart of the cultural phenomenon of star wars but they dont know how to do that because Star Wars is based on love and imagination, not hate and elitism. George Lucas is a liberal philanthropist who pledged to give HALF of his money to charity and education while putting the other half right back into the film industry pioneering technology that will make it easier for artists to make movies about anything their imaginations can dream up.

    And this "individual" Simon Pegg has built his entire career on doing nothing but trashing and attacking Lucas, Star Wars and everything they stand for. He has done just about everything but give death threats to George Lucas, the people who follow him online do that for him. This is the kind of person we are talking about here, so please dont even try to play it down.

    These links sum up the situation pretty good...

    And here I was thinking he had built his career on doing some fine acting on beloved, quirky projects like Spaced, Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz... silly me. The real money is on bashing Lucas...

    Maybe his online persona or whatever might be greatly built on the sort of derision he directs at the PT, but that is certainly not his "entire career". And I do think you overplay Simon's importance in creating the "PT bashing culture". Sure, he's a part of it, but it's not his fault that so many people act like idiots. Give them their fair share. People have been known to be idiots since even before Pegg was born.

    Dengar might have shown up in the Jabba's Palace scene. I'm not sure though.

    I didn't know much about Pegg going into Bounty so my mind was a relatively clean slate in that regard. My opinion is that, while the voice didn't ruin the character for me, it sure didn't fit the grizzly hunter I saw in Episode V. Then again, the head wrappings I thought were bandages are now part of a turban so what do I know? :p

    Apparently you can spot Dengar at several different times in Jabba's Palace, the only time I can say I've spotted him is in the background as Jabba's court attendees are looking down into the rancor pit and cheering. Bossk is there too apparently, or at least he's on Jabba's Sailing Barge, though I've never spotted him in the film itself.

    I always found it odd how so many characters managed to survive the events on the sailbarge. Makes me feel better knowing that only Rebo, Tessek, and Fett survived. Bossk and Dengar.....I just like to believe they were never on there.....

    It was only with the Blu-ray that I was finally able to spot Dengar in Jabba's palace.

    You can see Dengar's back clearly when Luke falls into the rancor pit. Check out 2:41 in this video.

    When it comes to Dengar, he's hard to spot, but he's definitely there. When it comes to Bossk, there's a still of him on the barge, but in film I don't believe he ever is in frame, I could be mistaken though.

    Here are some Bossk and Dengar sightings from ROTJ:

    [image=http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/2386/85914112.jpg]
    As Leia is captured and brought before Jabba. This could be Bossk - it looks like his yellow outfit.

    [image=http://img849.imageshack.us/img849/2595/46476445.jpg]
    Just before Jedi Rocks starts. This one's quite hard to see but it looks like him, and he's standing next to Boba in the same place as this photo:

    [image=http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/3356/72542886.jpg]
    Bossk on the sail barge just before Threepio starts his announcements.

    [image=http://img804.imageshack.us/img804/4885/43533513.jpg]
    Two images of the same shot where he's mostly obscured by Ree-Yees.

    [image=http://img385.imageshack.us/img385/2964/reeyeesbosskcp6.jpg]
    This is an alternate version, not in the film (I think it's from the DVD gallery) which shows Bossk more clearly.

    Dengar in Jabba's Palace:

    In the background as Bib runs to intercept Luke.

    On the left as Luke falls into the pit.

    On the left as Jabba's throne moves forward.

    As Han and Luke are brought before Jabba - on the right near Leia.

    While my own opinions on this have been stated several times (hence me not posting in here yet), I just wanna bump this to air a what was, for me, a particular eyebrow raiser*:

    (Source)

    So: Empire Strikes Back character shows up in PT-era and says "aah, poodoo!", and that's "making it cool again"?
    =D=

    * I don't follow Pegg on Twitter**, I saw this when it was RT'd by @StarWars.
    ** I followed him until his bashing of 'modern' SW got unbearable.
