Never mind! I found where I read it.

    5. Will there be a Starship Troopers 3?

I remember watching that movie when it came out. And when they were all naked in the shower that was a big thing to me!

Episode I did suck. But on the balance, that made for a 75% success rate. And the good ones were a lot better than the bad ones were bad. So yeah, it actually does make sense.

If you were a fan of the book, you could make the same argument for giving Starship Troopers a thousand chances.

Really, though, if you came in at any other point. . .you just have terrible taste, bad judgment, and a problem with admitting things to yourself.

Yeah, so I'm watching Deep Blue Sea. Sammy Jackson's doing his big motivational speech.

Wait, he ain't anymore. The shark came out of nowhere and ate him.

    Funniest. Movie. Moment. Ever.

Please tell me you stumbled across this trivia on the internet and didn't actually watch Starship Troopers bonus features or listen to the commentary. :p

    IMDb ^

Is the book worth reading? (checking it out of a library)

Will I be confused after being corrupted by the movie?

    Episode I did suck.

That's simply your opinion. And I've talked to many people who claim that yes, the Starship Troopers movie is indeed horrible. Can you really tell me in all honesty that Starship Troopers is a good movie?

    I can.

Naked chicks. Headshots. Hardcore tattoo. Sweet uniform. Nasty alien.

    = Good movie.

But at least TPM had a plot.

Naked chicks. Headshots. Hardcore tattoo. Sweet uniform. Nasty alien.

You must really like those Sci Fi Channel Saturday night movies then?

Have you seen my posts? The fury with which I went at the "We threw a rock at them" plan of attack?

Episode I was awful. But even if you just concentrated the very worst moments of Phantom Menace, and made a crossover with Teletubbies and Son of the Mask, it would still be head and shoulders above anything from the Starship Troopers franchise that's come out as visual media.

My exception was for the book, which is something of a classic.

I heard somewhere that the movie (not the book) was inspired by not only the book, but a tabletop strategy game called Warhammer 40,000.

Most notably, Imperial Guard: [image=http://us.games-workshop.com/games/40k/imperialguard/catalog/images/cadian_shock_troops.gif] [image=http://us.games-workshop.com/games/40k/imperialguard/catalog/images/cadian_hq_command.gif]

    vs. Tyranids: [image=http://us.games-workshop.com/games/40k/tyranids/painting/lictor_camo/images/p9_sm.jpg] [image=http://us.games-workshop.com/games/40k/tyranids/catalog/images/warrior.jpg] [image=http://us.games-workshop.com/games/40k/tyranids/catalog/images/carnifex.jpg] [image=http://us.games-workshop.com/games/40k/tyranids/catalog/images/tyrant.jpg]

There is also an equal amount of talk that the Tyranids themselves were based on the aliens from Alien, so don't bother bringing that up.

Up, seeing as I'm watching the sequel. It's actually a halfway-decent movie, but it's nowhere near the awesomeness of the original.

The book is good, but VERY different from the movie. The best way to describe the book would be Jarhead in space. More one person's recollections of being in the MI, as opposed to actually showing the Bug War.

"M.I. does the DYING, FLEET JUST DOES THE FLYING!"

How can you not love that movie?

Part satire, part WWII B-Movie, ALL PAUL VERHOEVEN!

You have MICHAEL IRONSIDE issuing lines like "They sucked his BRAINS OUT!"

You have CASPER VAN DIEN.....ALMOST EMOTING!

You have Dina Meyer, who is fast becoming a scifi b-movie QUEEN..

    "I'm dying..Johnny...but it's okay....because i got to have.... you...."

I have watched that movie a good 50 times, and i'm sure i'll watch it a good 50 more.

Paul Verhoeven makes a damned entertaining, hyper-violent shlock-flick.
