This novel did introduce a major faction that was important throughout the EU-which was the Hapes Consortium.

Whatever flaws the novel has otherwise it did give us battle dragons, and Tenel Ka.

The battle dragons are kinda cool, but I've always thought the functional concept behind them was not believable, and after reading COPL Wolverton does a poor job using/explaining them.

Technologically, the Battle Dragons would be more credible as Great Hyperspace War-era tech, or farther back. That said, I love their look -- very unlike any other starships.

Personally I found that part a bit… I think the word I am looking for is unfair. After all the jedi have spent thousands of years travelling the known galaxy, meeting uncountable cultures, studying the Force in many different forms and ways, etc. and the we have the Sorcerers who stay in monastic enclaves on their homeworld and still are able to master the Force to more-or-less the same level. I guess that life is just not fair.
I also find it a bit strange that neither side seems to think that they can learn something from the other.

But then again, the guy who made the write-up of the Sorcerers of Tund in Dark Side Sourcebook had most likely not actually read the Lando trilogy, the only books where the Sorcerers actually (psthuman) appear, since Rokur Gepto is crunshed as a Level 12 Force Adept, and as anybody that has read the book know that's if Rokur Gepto is Level 12 in something, its Scoundrel.

He did learn a bunch of their secrets - and he does appear to be using the Memory Walk torment technique (referenced in Book of Sith) on Lando - but he appears to be using technology as well as the Force.

He's also ancient - some 20,000+ years old.

I did not say that Rokur Gepto did not have any Level at all in some Force-user class, but he seem to be much more of a Scoundrel than Force Adept, especially as Force Adept is described in the D20 rules. I'm actually supriced that they made Dark Side Witch their own class (instead of just having the Nightsisters be a Force Adept/Dark Side Devotee combo with the Spellcaster Feat) while the only represented we see of the Sorcerers of Tund (who is not really one, just a being who use their trappings and stole their secrets before nuking them) is just a Force Adept, a class whose built really don't represent how Rokur Gepto is portrayed in the books

I understood that as a species thing, not a Force training thing

I was thinking more - he's so old, that he's learned a small amount of Force info from a range of different sources - more Force Adept than any other Force-using class.

A Sorcerer of Tund class? Or maybe Dark Side Devotee?

Speaking of the history of the Nightsisters from @Gamiel I had no idea for some reason that even in YJK, the Nightsisters had been reformed thanks to some outside visitor to Dathomir. Makes me wonder if we're going to see them get re-established on Dathomir in the post-TCW era sometime.

If I remember right, wasn't it someone showing the Darth Maul to Lucas that made him want to put the Nightsisters into TCW? Which would make sense that they followed their look from that comic, and also that the series tied them into Maul. And Katie Lucas probably deserves the lion's share of the credit for wanting to/having the influence to be able to make that fit as well into the established EU canon as it was able to.

Well the retcon for the Sorcerers of Tund was also the fact they're an offshoot of the Sith.

But I did like it because the Prequel Jedi were at their most arrogant and I believe least effective. They weren't interested in what the Tund thought of the Force, they were only interested in getting a new source of recruits.

That's news to me, where was that established?

You have not read Dawn of the Jedi I take it? Or consider 1000 years of galaxtic peace effective.

B.t.w. why do you think it was the Prequel-era Jedi that was the Jedi who contacted the Sorcerers? My impression (which has no basis in what is actually written I realise now when I reread what DSS actually said) was that the Jedi who contacted the Sorcerers of Tund was of an earlier era.

And the same can be said for the Sorcerers of Tund who mostly just stayed in the same place and did not really interact with the rest of the galaxy.

If I remember right didn't this book have Luke finding an incomplete holo of a Jedi mission report to Yoda or something like that? That part stuck with me through the years for some reason even though I don't remember much of the rest of the book other than it had Nightsisters, Zsinj, the Hapans and Threepio's classic song about Han.

I don't know if this was where it was first established, but it's discussed in some detail in Karnak Tetsu, Sorceror of Tund.

The above link also establishes that the Jedi were in contact with the Sorcerors at least as far back as the KOTOR era.

The "ancient throne room where, one by one, Jedi came before their high mater to give reports"... rather prescient of the Jedi Council of the prequels. Especially if you then take the nu-canon approach where, by Luke's time, it's actually become a literal throne room.

The Courtship Of Princess Leia feels like it should have been a storyline from the old Star Wars Marvel Comics that was instead turned into a terrible novel. If Jaxxon and some Hoojibs showed up it would have actually been an improvement.

Man, I disappear for a long time and all of the sudden one of my favorite SW books is gettin' set upon the pyre of Lit. Oh, what sad times are these when passing ruffians can say ill about COPL at will.

Agreed. May actually be my single biggest beef with TCW and Rebels. I love the concept of the Witches, and they had to go create something so... crappy.

The internet has disappointed me. I thought for sure if I Googled "The Virtues Of King Han Solo" there'd be at least one cover version out there. Even if it were just some guy with no shirt in a wig singing along to a Casio loop. I guess we still have much to learn.

You know how at Wookieepedia, they say that instead of asking why something doesn't exist, you should just make it yourself?

I'm gonna say that here too.

Send us the link after you upload the video.

I'm not sure what would be more traumatizing, my singing voice or the sight of me shirtless in a wig.
