Exciting! Very curious to learn who the author is?

I hope the rebel scout is Hera, assuming she survives to this time period.
Or one of the old classics like Hobbie.

Won't be Hera, because I doubt they'll spoil whether she survives Rebels or not. (That said, I'm saying that she was flying a ship at the Battle of Endor until proven otherwise.)

Unidentified is his first name, Tall-Hatted is his middle name, and Advisor is his last name.

Well. Aaron Allston is a bit dead, and you can't use "good author" and Troy Denning in the same sentence without a negative qualifier (for example, "Troy Denning is not, and will never be, a good author") or a much more generous serve of irony that you've used.

Well, he is neither dead, nor Denning. That's a positive. And factual.

Troy Denning is an author for the NEU universe. That's factual.

Well, his going rate would be extraordinarily cheap and he's hardly in demand anywhere else. Bit of Forgotten Realms work and that's it. No, you pay him a pittance and let him hack away.

Only way I would want Denning back is if he is kept far away from any main character. Let him create his own characters and I'll happily read it.

He did, and Saba was awful. I agree leaving him to write garbage in his own pocket of the universe is desirable but let's not ascribe quality just yet...

To be fair to Denning, Galaxy Guide 4 and Star by Star weren't bad. Star by Star brought Lando back to the NJO, after all.

Galaxy Guide 4 claimed that the Empire discovered every species in the galaxy when it was already established that the Empire existed for less than a century of the galaxy's 1000-generation-long history.

And Star by Star graphically killed half the cast of Young Jedi Knights for like, no reason.

HA! I totally want to see this in a HolonetNews article. "Today, the Empire proudly announces that all discernible species throughout the Galaxy have been identified." And then they interview some random guy on the street who is all "Yeah! Go Imperial science!" and an academic like Mammon Hoole who like "Wait -- how does that even make sense?" Alton Kastle takes this opportunity to discredit such rebellious skepticism.

Star by Star was weird because it combined some incredibly boneheaded and/or just plain awful plot points - the children's crusade against the voxyn comes to mind - with some actually good, memorable stuff. Heck, I didn't even mind the Barabels in it.

I wonder how much of that was because it was part of a larger story structure that Denning had no control over.

I personally hope Zahn is doing it.

It makes sense from a business standpoint to have arguably the highest profile, and best selling, Star Wars author doing what seems to be the highest profile new canon book yet.

It also makes sense from a sentimental standpoint, to have the man who wrote the first post RotJ novel to write the "first" post RotJ novel again.

Hey everyone, I really like Timothy Zahn.

I definitely would be totally okay if Timothy Zhan was involved in the first opening salvo of the post ROTJ EU stuff. Been wanting to read a Zhan novelization every time the PT came out. Zhan writing "Aftermath" would make for a great marketing hook. Also, hey, the summary did have an Imperial bent to it. So maybe?
