I think it will be like in the book, battle over Corucant. It will be short war with New Republic and its allies.

Ah yeah. Of course that is likely. Frankly i have not read the Heir to the Empire novel since it came out. Still got my hardcover copy somewhere covered by dust. We also have to remember that its a post war ( OT) situation, just as Andor is pre war ( OT) Both eras do not need that «one big war» to succeed in the storytelling directions.

Agreed, ashoka, skeleton crew, Mandalorian season 4 will all be prelude to the movie that show us the war.

Meesa think meesa lika this....I want the Din's to get in the Ghost pack ASAP and stick with them like glue in the new Galaxy until after the sequels :)

Wishful thinking that the movie ends up with all of them there so they survive the sequels...
I do not like the alternative :-(

While still very much awaiting the big moment when Sabine uses the force, I’m starting to get the feeling that it’s actually been one big misdirect

She’s tried to use the force several times to no avail, when the nightsisters sense ‘a jedi’ is Sabine just a red herring and they were actually sensing Baylan ?

Is Ahsoka going to end up being Sabine’s teacher, not in the ways of the Jedi, but ‘about life’ as Ezra put it to Kanan in Rebels ?

I agree with you. Not time travel. Baylan thinks there is some way to have a fresh start that breaks the cycle.

Your idea is interesting. No more half measures. I got the feeling the Jedi Order was big on second chances with just about anyone but the Sith. The Jedi fight a war until the enemy surrenders. The Jedi accept the peace and begin rebuilding. The aggressor society or faction in the war is defeated but they survive. The door is open for them to rise up and start wars again in the future. There is also the opportunity they will change.

The Jedi apparently fought more than one war against the Mandalorians. The Jedi don’t try and exterminate an enemy so they could never return.

Also the Jedi didn’t rule the Republic. They advised and kept peace. From his word I don’t think Baylan has any delusions to start an Empire run by benevolent Force users. It seems he is after something bigger that will standup to and outlast the tides of rising and falling empires. Stop that cycle even.

The Clone Wars confirms Palpatine researching specific powers in the Force with the head of the Night Sisters. The knowledge they gained together was crucial for Palpatine’s later plans to happen.

Also we learn the Head Night Sister knowing this info was a huge vulnerability to Palaptine’s plans.

We never find out what the specific power, ability or knowledge actually is. Darth Maul’s unlikely survival seems partially connected to it. Living beyond death could be a part of it.

After the Head Night Sister was killed Darth Sidious tells Dooku and Grevious Maul would never again be a threat to the Sith without the night sister’s power.

That’s how Ahsoka can be the one sent to Mandalore at the end of the Clone Wars to deal with Maul. The Sith aren’t even trying to catch him.

I’m hoping it’s a misdirect and Baylan is the Jedi. I’d rather they not turn Sabine into a Jedi. Between Ahsoka, Ezra, Baylan and Shin this show has enough Force users.

I'm curious why more people aren't speculating that it was just a reference to Ahsoka. She "reeks of Jedi" means she smells like one. And she was just hanging out with Ahsoka. And at the end of the episode, they sense Ahsoka arriving on a whale. So...that was probably just a hint of Ahsoka. Possibly setting up the next movie:

    Scent of Ahsoka.

I regret saying that Rosario's performance was too stoic. I've watched a couple of her interviews, and seeing the young woman actor who portrayed TCW Ahsoka in live-action helped me to see that Rosario is trying to impress upon us that Ahsoka was deprived of a childhood by fighting in the Clone Wars. That's something I thought as early as 2012, when I initially watched Seasons 1 through 4 of TCW. It became apparent by the end of Season 3 that she was forced to act like an adult...even when she wasn't always comfortable with it.

So, Rosario is really good. Besides, her work is not unlike Mark Hamill's in ROTJ.

Her trippy journey with Anakin was about her shedding her past. She had previously viewed herself as part of Anakin's legacy, and she had to recall how she felt before his fall in order to convince herself that it did not matter if her choice to leave the Jedi helped Anakin to embrace the Sith. That was all Anakin's choice. Just as Obi-Wan had to accept that Anakin had chosen to become Vader in Kenobi, Ahsoka came to a similar realization here. I like how Ahsoka has traits in common with both Obi-Wan and Anakin. At any rate, I always liked Lucas' idea of Anakin having many reasons for falling the dark side. He changed that a bit by emphasizing Anakin's obsession with Padme, of course, which worked for ROTJ. But it works better if Anakin's main concern is to keep Padme alive, even if it's a selfish desire, as well as Sidious playing on other things, such as eroding his trust for the Jedi. Sidious Palpatine wouldn't even have to mention Ahsoka. That was already weighing on Anakin.

It's debatable as to whether or not Ahsoka could have turned Anakin back at some point had she been involved in ROTS. I'll leave that to others to decide. I personally think that it would take both Ahsoka and Obi-Wan to do it. But Sidious had it easy with both the sister-figure and the brother-figure away. He still could have corrupted Anakin if both of them were on Coruscant with Anakin, but it would have been harder and it would have taken longer. He would've had to prolong the war and delay Order 66 to do it if he wanted to retain his original scheduled list of events.

Anyhow, I like how Anakin helped Ahsoka to teach Ahsoka that his failings were not her fault. He obviously wasn't fighting with his full strength (martial arts-wise or Force-wise), which is why he didn't want to kill her. He wanted her to disarm him. But Ahsoka chose to live...to accept that Anakin's fall was not her fault.

The Jedi always wore Lightside perfume. The whole temple stunk of it. Still does decades later. Its a bit like lavender.

One thing caught my attention late in the episode. Baylan referred to Ezra as "Bokken Jedi".
I don't think we ever heard this term before.
It was used to described as someone trained in the Jedi arts after the fall the temple without all the tech and knowledge the old order had. Luke probably is also a "Bokken Jedi".
The obvious association with this word (bokken) is that wood swords used to train ken-do and other japanese martial arts.
It kind implies a lesser class of Force users who never trained with the "real thing"(lightsabers) only with simulacrums, fake saber.
But the intresting thins is that Baylan made it sound CASUAL, as if there many others who took that path.
So in the end, after this long rant, i think the mere training, even to someone that's not really gifted in the Force as Sabine is probably recognizable to the witches.

I imagine they smell like badass warriors. And I like how Sabine's voice is pink, purple, gray-black, navy blue, silver, and brown. I like how Ahsoka's voice is gold, white, grey, turquoise, and mauve. But that's Rosario's Ahsoka's voice. Ashley's initial Ahsoka voice started off being bluish teal and pink (seasons 1 through 2 of TCW) before becoming actually orange, gold, and bluish teal (seasons 3 through 7 of TCW) to becoming resplendent orange, gold, and grey (in Rebels). I enjoy my synesthesia. And that's totally separate from my ideasthesia, which is different but also fun.

This could all be setup for a twist where they reveal that the Nightsisters are Jedi. It's my understanding that whoever smelt it, dealt it. Then again, it could be Baylan if we're going by the "whoever denied it, supplied it" axiom.

I actually took the "smells of Jedi" thing as both showing that Sabine's time with both Kanan and Ahsoka has given her a "vibe" on the Force even if she can't manipulate it, while also showing that Baylan is far enough removed from the lightside to not set off alarm bells, and that his training of Shin is likewise un-Jedi-like enough to do likewise.

It's funny that the New Republic didn't want our heroes chasing after Thrawn because they didn't think Thrawn was a threat and now in a way it's heroes fault that Thrawn will be coming back!

Looking forward to Hera talking to the Senators in a future episode about this.

Hera: "Well you didn't believe me that Thrawn was a threat but now he's back!"

Senator: "How did he get back?"

Hera: "Well...my buddy Sabine stole a map from Ahsoka and then the bad guys stole it from Sabine and then Sabine and Ahsoka chased after the bad guys and Sabine got the map back...and then she gave it to the bad guys because she really wanted to find Ezra Bridger and then Thrawn returned. But don't worry will stop him!"
