Lit STAR WARS: DAWN OF REBELLION – THE VISUAL GUIDE - Fall 2023

I think it released early in the UK yesterday.

 

I just got the new issue of Insider and it says the release date is November 7. I guess November 7 is UK release and December 5th is US release. If so, it's odd that Insider would give the UK release date.

Judging by the lack of it in people's reactions, I'm guessing there disappointingly is no juicy section about armytroopers--or even the black-clad security troopers. If there were, I'm sure people would have raved about it no matter how short.

 

There's a two-page spread on various stormtrooper types, and a few lines about the security troopers.

 

Oh interesting! Anything new? Trooper lore is always fun.

 

Not a huge amount as far as I can see, but Crosshair's elite squad troopers are "ES troopers", the TK stormtroopers' helmet is repurposed from a "cancelled Phase III clone trooper design", and Vader's lava troopers are "volcanic environment stormtroopers". A little glimpse at Rogue One's spacetroopers, too.

Most of the book is fairly simple profiles of various characters, some nice write-ups about aspects of the overall era, and some new details and names scattered throughout.

 

I would hazard a guess that the spacetrooper stuff is recycled from this page that was cut from the Rogue One Visual Guide (presumably because the spacetroopers themselves ultimately did not appear in the final film). If so, I like that it made a comeback. WEG's "power suit" spacetroopers were cool but these guys, who actually appeared in ANH, spent a lot of years in obscurity. Great attention to detail by the Rogue One filmmakers.

got my copy today and must say I am not impressed at all. A hell lot of rehash and not enough new stuff for my taste. at least even what is new has no new lore it seems beyond the shows etc. and Numidian covered it well regarding all the connections and little new bits.

 

My copy's shipping has been heavily delayed unfortunately, but what I've seen online so far is pretty good. I didn't expect to see so much content from the comics or the cartoons, but I hope it's not at the expense of Andor and Kenobi material that is supposed to be the focus of the book (armytroopers for example, since they get a ton of spotlight in Andor).

These three vehicles are absent (so far) from the Wookieepedia's appearence tab, and I fear that if they are not featured here they may not be named anywhere else for a while:

Great news, I'm fine with names only!

 

This is starting to arrive in the USA for folks who pre-ordered. Got mine today; can't wait to take a deep dive after work.

 

Managed to get this at a reduced price, and overall happy with it.
Didn't seem like enough information on neither Andor nor the Bad Batch, however. In particular, I'd have liked more on Eriadu, Rampart, Project War Mantle in general, and the entire Mothma family, plus associates.

Also, would have liked a cross-section of the Ghost, as opposed to regurgitated content on the Falcon or some Rogue One content, maybe. Also, perhaps a bit about Thrawn's career, also?
And several ship lengths also got slightly adjusted, for no totally clear reason, that I could see? Oh well.

 

In the oldendays, this was enough to burn down the internets.

Actual names like "CEC YT-1300" or vague names like "Imperial Prison Transport"?

 

Most have model names; the IPT is one of the few that doesn't.

 

Does anyone who has the guide know if the AK-47 looking blasters from Andor are given a name?

 

They are dubbed, presumably with Pablo's tongue firmly in cheek, a "collapsible BK-43 blaster rifle."
