With the preproduction for Episode VII starting this spring, I am wondering how long it will take for Lucasfilm to announce the title for the film. Does anyone know when they started the preproduction for The Phantom Menace then finally announced the title for the it. This could give us a hint at how long we will be waiting for a title announcement.

Any thoughts on this?

 

I remember that ROTS's title wasn't revealed until mid 2004, a year after principle photography.

 

Assuming Episode VII is released in 2015 (and I have my doubts personally) we can expect the title sometime in the summer/autumn of 2014.

 

They started shooting episode 1 in 1997 but I'm not sure when they revealed the title. I'm pretty sure episode 2's title was revealed in mid 2001, about a year before it's mid 2002 release.

 

Next year, probably.

 

I am guessing we will have a title for Episode VII late this year, early next year.

 

Hopefully they won't come up with a title only to change it afterwards (ROTJ).

 

Yea. although the title change for ROTJ was a good change. I think a good title for Episode III would have been Rise of the Sith had ROTJ been called Revenge of the Jedi.

 

I know that Episode 3's title was released in late-2004, not long before the teaser trailer came out.
