I don’t get the Wade hate. He’s a character the audience barely gets to know. He is killed. Then other characters we don’t know very well mourn his loss while a character we know a little bit gives solace.

The point isn’t for the audience to mourn Wade’s lost, it’s to show how his loss affects the other characters. For the viewer to feel empathy for their pain.
