This makes sense as I wondered why we hadn't had any new book announcements in a while.

Few more updates for you all:

John will also have his own table in THE WRITER'S BLOCK (like artist alley) - he'll be at TABLE 3, so anyone attending the show who can't make it to one of the specific signings can find John at his table through the weekend.

Second: anyone that missed out on the special edition of RISE OF THE RED BLADE - we're bringing some extra books to NYCC, so you'll have another chance to get it (or have someone get it for you!). These are pretty limited so I wouldn't wait to try and get one. I don't expect them to last through the full weekend.

First lit panel will be starting in a bit. Anyone there? I’m far too busy this weekend alas. Though I’m sure to see cosplayers on the subway at least.

    Mostly comic news: https://www.starwars.com/news/nycc-2023-lucasfilm-publishing-panel

Of the most interest is probably Bounty Hunters confirmed to be ending, the 'Hyperspace Stories' line is becoming a line of graphic novels starting with Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon focuses, and High Republic continues to be happening. And that Stellan Gios lightsaber looks pretty cool.

Well, as I predicted, Thrawn: Alliances adaptation is coming, seems like no plans on Grysk in live-action.

It shouldn’t be too much of a surprise, the Grysk have been a book-only thing for a long time now and limited to Zahn’s saga at that.

But I’m pretty excited to see how they visualise a lot of these characters and concepts.

Glad to hear the Bounty Hunter series is ending. Haven't been a big fan of that series. Infact I have just been collecting it's issues and waiting until the series is over to catch up.

Since it soon will be I can finally put all those issues into the box. Wonder what they are going to announce to take it's place?

There's been some speculation about what direction Marvel/SW will go after they reach RoTJ with the current runs - certainly seems like we might be heading in a prequel-y direction (of which I approve!)

Definitely a possibility but if they do I don't think they would have anymore than one or two of their ongoings in a non movie era.

And I think the regular Star Wars line will always be focusing on movie characters.

Of course! If you take the current construction - main book, Vader, Aphra, and BH - and apply it to the TPM/AotC gap, you could have Obi/Ani, Dooku (and/or Ventress), new character or minor one (Qymaen jai Sheelal could be interesting!), and Jango

I would like at least one ongoing series set in the ST. There is a chunk of time between TLJ and TROS that could support some type of series. I was a fan of the Poe Dameron ongoing. But I’m not holding my breath for more ST content (outside of the YA Dark Horse comics) until the New Jedi Order film actually happens.

And here I was just commenting in another thread that we probably wouldn't get more comic adaptations of the Thrawn books. Happy to be wrong, and very excited to see visualizations of the Grysk and their ships.

Almost weird to see a Jango Fett focused comic that isn't Open Season. Wonder if it will cover the same "how Dooku recruited Jango" storyline as the old game, or if this will be a bit earlier during his bounty hunting career. Should be interesting either way, especially since other stories have established things like Jango having a rivalry with Cad and a friendship with Hondo.

Mace, Qui-gon and Obi-Wan are always fun, though not much to speculate on.

Very much looking forward to the High Republic offerings.
Oh Lorna Dee, how many times will you need to get your arse beat before you learn?

Agree. I am particularly interested in how Dooku's henchmen from Serenno will be depicted.

Thtat can be very interesting since Bane was at first Jango's protege.
Also, since Sacks is writing, there is a chance for Durge appearing.

The other thing worth noting that was sort of buried in the announcement that Jody Houser confirmed on her Twitter, unlike last time Timothy Zahn is actually co-writing the comic with her. Perhaps it’ll be more of an “expanded” adaptation of the book.

I might be one of the few people who prefers it to Thrawn (2017). Maybe because it has more action, but also because I found Eli Vanto to annoying upon revisiting that original book and found Faro to be a much more enjoyable “Watson”.
