Full Series Star Wars Rebels Season 2 Discussion (Spoilers Allowed)

I admit, I did not really watch Clone Wars. Well, only the Death Watch arc...for the Mandalorians, of whom I am a big fan. So I was delighted when the character Sabine was introduced. A Star Wars series, with a Mandalorian main character? Nice.

Through out the first season however, Sabine got a lot less screen time than I had imagined (or hoped) and often she didn't act particularly Mandalorian. She just seemed...well...normal. Like she was 'wearing the armor', not 'being the armor' in the same sense as Bo Katan.

I was further delighted then, when Grand Moff Tarkin made is debut in the series. While he was enjoyable to watch in A New Hope, I was hoping more for the fact that it might be signs that his protege Nastasi Daala might make a cameo appearance.

That however, is more than likely never, or at least there is as much a chance as Juno Eclipse (who according to her lore was the one who recruited Admiral "Its a trap!" Ackbar to the Rebel Alliance...whom she also played a role in forming) making an appearance, due to the fact that Disney burned every bridge they legally could as far as the extended universe goes (deep sigh).

Still, my main hope for next season as the battles begin to ramp up and get larger that we might at the very least see a return of Bo Katan (given Ashoka's cameo) to help Sabine start acting the part of a Mandalorian instead of just wearing the armor.

She speak's Mando'a and writes it. And says her armor is second skin basically. She even falls asleep in it sometimes.

 

The biggest hope I have is an increased budget - so that Sabine does not have too sleep in her armour. (i.e. gets a new 3D-model without armour). I may be a bit spoiled from the later TCW episodes, but the limited budget is painfully obvious sometimes.

As for Sabine's 'Mandalorian-ness'... sorry, but that sounds a bit like "no true Scotsman". We have not seen many Mandalorians, and what we have seen in TCW was a deeply conflicted Mandalorian image between neutrality loving pacifists and militaristic pillagers. I do not see Sabine fitting in in any of these groups. (I won't talk about a travestied image, which is fortunately no longer canon). From this point of view, it would make sense for Rebels to explore what it means being a Mandalorian in the Dark Times.
In that I agree, I for one have still have no idea what it is means besides wearing a fancy armour.

I think they'll probably add onto it more then anything. I hope she meets someone who is a Mandalorian Warrior and we get to learn their ways through them. Maybe Sabine has to go through some type of Mandalorian trail to test her abilities and how well she knows the culture. I'm just wondering how much of the culture from Legends they'll put back into the show?

 

Could be that she just cares more about the rest of the crew than consciously acting like a Mandalorian, she lets her fighting skills speak for itself, and that counts above all else in their culture.

 

I think it would be pretty interesting if she ran into a group of Death Watch style extremist Mando's personally and was forced to fight against them. That would probably make for nice personal conflict for her.

 

Weeellll, the crates was left during 'daylight', so it's perfectly safe actually. The problem was that the Phantom was leaking fuel.

 

So it was just zeb and eras fault.

 

Actually they came out during periods of shade from other surrounding meteorites that block out sun rays - it wasn't a planet they were based on either but a meteor.

 

Yup, that's why I put quotes around 'daylight'.

So the abandoned base is quite safe, as long as the rebel cell can time their pickup during a long-ish unblocked sunlight window.

 

It is not predictable but random precisely as I just finished saying cause there is no times of daytime or nighttime because its not a planet nor moon. It is all very random depending on how large the meteorites are and the time it takes to pass. So no, it is not safe, and the creatures themselves do routinely venture out and take advantage of the cover whenever available - and even grab stuff to bring it back inside the hanger into their nest. They also have ability to lay traps for their intended prey. So they have a level of intellect and are carnivorous predators - it can be argued that those creatures even killed the Clones stationed there that built a base inside the wrong cave.

Not was Hera aware of such creatures.

 

So who here think Maketh and Kallus will make it out of season 2.

Kallus I can see. Maketh Tua probably won't survive the first 3 episodes.

 

I agree Kallus is ruthless enough to survive under vader not Maketh though.

I wouldn't be surprised if Vizagro's deal has something to do with Hondo.

 

I want ashoka to be in that episode where they meet hondo so he can be like "ah my friend"

 

Guessing Hondo will be in the early half of Season 2, because it sounds like they are only halfway through recording for Season 2 atm according to Freddie, and that news was posted awhile ago.

 

But why would Freddie say they have recorded twice as many episodes for season two key word recorded not recording.
