What's the point of disc 4? It just reuses music from the other discs.

Such a gouging set of releases.

To get everything you have to get both so that you have all the CD's (if you didn't have them already) then the vinyl as well as getting the digital version of said vinyls.

So really if you have all the CD's then the vinyl release is the more attractive since it is from the actual album masters.

    http://www.jwfan.com/

Star Wars: The Ultimate Vinyl Collection (11-Vinyl Box Set)
The Phantom Menace – Original 1999 soundtrack album reissued on 2LP
Attack of the Clones – Original 2002 soundtrack album reissued on 2LP
Revenge of the Sith – Original 2005 soundtrack album reissued on 2LP
Star Wars – Original 1977 2LP soundtrack album reissued on 2LP
The Empire Strikes Back – Original 1980 2LP soundtrack album reissued on 2LP
Return of the Jedi – Original 1983 1LP soundtrack album reissued on 1LP

    — Each of the six film soundtracks in deluxe gatefold sleeves faithfully replicating the original artwork.
Audio was transferred from the original LP masters using the highest resolution (up to 192kHz/24bit) and pressed with heavy 180gram vinyl. The six soundtrack set (on 11 LPs) is presented in a black, soft-touch laminated slipcase with an embossed, hot silver foil Star Wars logo and includes a digital download card for one complete box set (all six soundtracks).

I may get the download version. Don't really want to have to pay for the prequels again though, I bought them all on CD when they were first released.

As regards the original trilogy, I already have the 1997 CD sets, and the 1993 CD anthology. I had the original versions on cassette back in the day, and would like to have them on CD or MP3, particularly Empire.

That is the Musical Journey DVD from the ROTS release. It's not audio, it's video with Ian doing the introductions.

It's a DVD, which originally came with the Revenge of the Sith soundtrack.

Yeah, the vinyls are reissues of the originals. Which is better this way; you can have all the stuff us geeky collectors care about on digital and CD, but have the vinyls for their original structure. I just like the way they were put together for the soundtrack release. They had a nice flow, which is essential to vinyl because you're listening all the way through.

The last time that the OT OSTs were in print, high schools had smoking areas, so it's about time that the OT OST's get a reprint. It feels seeing an old friend.

I'd love to see a rerelease of the standalone Episode I, IV, V, and VI two-disc soundtracks and new releases of II and III two-disc soundtracks.

Although I look forward to this release, I also look forward to Sony loosing the rights. Complete scores for the prequels are long overdue.

La La Land Records, I would hope. They know how to handle music from cherished franchises. They released Shirley Walker's incredible Batman- The Animated Series scores, which I will always be grateful of them for.

Also, I just noticed the AOTC soundtrack doesn't include the Conveyor Belt track that was originally exclusive to some pressings. What a joke, Sony. Give us the full scores for AOTC and ROTS.

My friend Neil would probably work on them if they went through La La Land. I would not count on that happening tho. Lucasfilm will license them to a Disney label, almost guaranteed.

I would love for LaLaLand to do a complete score release, but I'm afraid that the Star Wars rights-holders wouldn't trust the relatively small label with a release that big. Most LaLaLands are aimed at hardcore soundtrack fans, with only 3,000 units or so made but Star Wars goes beyond that.

Even without La La Land involved, I could see some of the teams that work on La La Land stuff being involved. They've been involved with the Legacy Collection releases of the Disney film soundtracks and scores. Those are Walt Disney Records. The people bring the same level of care to these Disney releases as they do the La La Land stuff. Who knows? Maybe Disney could engage them to work on releases of the Star Wars scores for one of the Disney record labels.

La La Land typically does three thousand units, but they can and have done ten thousand units. Allowing for a longer shelf life. But I think that more likely it'll be something that Disney either owns, or will negotiate a deal that fancies them with another label.

I'd love for the Anakin vs. Obi-Wan followed by part of Duel of the Fates to be released as its heard in ROTS.

Why? It's just hacked in, copied and pasted with no grace or progression from how it sounded in TPM.
