Discussion Star Wars: Starfighter (Formerly Ryan Gosling and Sean Levy A Star Wars Story)

I'm assuming they liked his pitch and the script..? Not that complicated. It can't all be Tony Gilroy Star Wars all the time. Hell even Tony himself said he's glad it's only 2 seasons and he's already to move on from Star Wars after Andor. Can't force the guy to keep star War-ing against his will!

I was on the Oscar Isaac is never doing Star Wars again train but he's voicing Jesus in a really bad CGI film so all bets are off on him never returning

I think something definitely fell apart with Patty Jenkins if they took her movie and gave it to the two Canadian guys.

 

It's not my favourite, and I wouldn't say it's the best, but it's definitely the one I rewatch the most often.

 

Who do we think be the main villan here. First Order remnants, pirates or cooperations like Techno Union and Trade Federation. As this a small one movie standalone

 

Cool thing about legends that I hope comes to canon

Outside of Zsinj, most of the remnants came after dark empire, not Endor

The first order remnants being bigger and more prevalent than the imperial remnants makes sense

without Palpatine putting everything in the New Order basket, there would be a ton of warlords

they can also adapt the twins, and make their T-empire into a major crisis

 

They are going to want to see TIE Fighters getting blasted but maybe some pirates find an old Imperial or First Order stash

 

Clone masters would be awesome villains

“Spaarti creations Inc” can be a megacorporation that sells private clone armies to warlords

leading to a warlord era

 

Take a inspiration from the ronin episode on Vision that had pirates dressed in First Order storm trooper gear and vehicles. We probably see some Tie fighters and pirate ships. I love to see some old droids fighters too.

 

SW always finds a way to “remix” the iconic imagery, so something like this wouldn’t surprise me.

 

Same here, weirdly enough. I’ve never figured out why, it just keeps happening.

@Darth Chiznuk That be news to Patty Jenkins who still on the record saying she signed a new contract with Lucasfilm last year to develop Rogue Squadron. Then again Rian Johnson I believe is still on the record that "eventually" they will make his trilogy.

I actually think is the best movie to start with after the Mando movie. Seems like it could be a simple fun adventure film most Ep 9 that doesn't have any of the baggage that could divide fans. Also should a good opening window as my guess is Secret Wars will get move up to the end of April(ish).

Now of course they actually need to make the movie as let's be blunt. Disney's completion percentage of actually making a movie they announce and everything is worse then a Shaq free throw. It sounds like this will be different like The Mando movie but until it's actually in the can at the theater playing, I won't get truly vested.

I know this is probably blasphemy in SW fandom, but I never understood the interest in Wedge. He's barely even a character, as the movies tell us nothing about him. Does the interest come from what he's done in books, comics, etc? (I never read them, so my opinion of him is just based on what's shown in the movies, which is very little.)

 

Agreed, i thought he should have died in ROTJ. And even Rebels only did one episode with him and then he is in the background. I never got the hype for wanting him back in the Sequels. His cameo in TROS was more then he deserved.

 

I’d argue just based on the strength of the X-Wing novels he’s more interesting character than Poe.

So now the thread title needs an update...

 

Ah, so the interest comes from the books, not the movies. I figured that might be the case. Fair enough. For those of us who just watch the movies, Poe is obviously the more interesting/developed character, and Wedge is on par with Dak or Porkins, etc. (except he didn't die.)

 

Wedge is a glup ****tos in the movies, and mostly just book character.

 

But that's what makes him interesting. He's one of the rebellion's aces, a side character that doesn't (and shouldn't) have the screentime to be developed anymore than what they did. His appeal lies in his scarcity and little side characters like that add depth to the story about a galactic conflict, as opposed to just having the main characters surrounded by red shirts. (Then of course there are the books where he gets more action, but I'm just talking about the appeal of side characters like him in the films.)

Boba Fett was pretty much a side character in the OT. So was Mon Mothma. And look at them now

 

At last they've revealed Gosling, this as been one of the biggest known 'secrets' in movie history.

People took notice of Boba before TESB was released, you had this mysterious character who appeared at a parade, then he was in the Holiday Special and even had an action figure long before any other TESB characters, if there was internet back then Boba would've been huge before he even appeared on the big screen. Then you still had the mystery, even after ROTJ and a horrible end he still grew in the EU.
