I am an avid record collector—music collector. Being an avid Star Wars collector, of course I want the Star Wars records.

I am hoping to compile a complete and detailed listing of all available Star Wars vinyl records.

I own the LPs from all three original films, the 7'' storybooks from all three films and the 45 carrying case. I also have a 45 that is the Star Wars theme song with the Cantina song on the b-side.

There are records from the Droids cartoon and Ewoks that I know of. I think there are several other oddballs out there. I am wondering what would be the best way to catalog them on there, so that people could use it as a collector's reference guide?

You might want to check the music board here to see if there's any threads on the subject already.

Discogs is a good place to start looking for vinyl releases.

    Also youtube.

A friend used to have the SW Christmas album on vinyl. All I remember from it is "What Do You Get a Wookiee for Christmas When He Already Has a Comb?"

I have the original 1977 Star Wars album on vinyl, thanks to my father. I also recently got the Force Awakens score on vinyl with the weird hologram thing on once disc. Pretty cool!

What intrigues me is why the soundtracks were only released with selected tracks from the films as opposed to expanded 2 LP versions. Was it just production costs or wanting to keep the price of the album down?

I believe ANH and TESB were both released as double albums... I have ANH so I know it's 2 records. @General Kenobi do you have TESB on Vinyl?

Thanks for the info. I’d seen the original on 2LP, but only seen Empire and Jedi on single disc. I’ll do some more digging. I wonder if the 2LP version of Empire was regional?

I had the 45 of Meko's SW theme and the double album of ESB, which I used to listen to endlessly with headphones. Best soundtrack ever. Wish I still had it.

I used to have that. It had a description if each piece of music and nice pictures. How much was it if you don't mind me asking.

I’ve got them all on cd, but I’m on a vinyl kick at the moment and decided to get the originals on LP. The most common one is the single LP which obviously only has half the music on it. But I managed to grab an original double LP for only £25.

I've got the original OT vinyl records but nothing to play them on. (I also have the CDs.)

Anyone know why the track listing on the soundtracks for the OT were in a random order on the vinyl instead of being in film order?

Because that's how all John Williams Original Soundtracks are. He prefers a presentation that he feels flows best musically.

My aunt bought me and my sister the SW soundtrack, but it was a fake on with classical music "similar" to SW. We cried for hours.
