Games The 100 Day Star Wars Challenge

Crait from 2017's Battlefront II is my favourite, and the most epic IMO. Battling on the salt plains with the red crystal spraying everywhere, while the colossal AT-M6 slowly makes its way towards the Rebel base never gets old. Sometimes I have to just stop and admire the view. One thing the 2017 game did masterfully was making you actually feel like you're in a full scale war, especially with everything happening in the background. Crait, Geonosis and Kamino are perfect examples of that. Of course the original Battlefront games had amazing maps too, but these newer games just take it all to an entirely different level.

Playing the Commodore 64 version of the Star Wars Arcade Game. Blowing up the Death Star was one of my first proud virtual achievements

 

Playing Lego Star Wars The Clone Wars at my cousin's house. I was Commander Stone and he was Dooku, i was losing really badly.

I will try and get this going more regular again.

As for my earliest memory, I'm pretty sure it was playing the first Lego Star Wars which I borrowed from my cousin. After playing and 100%ing Lego Indiana Jones, which I had an absolute blast with, I wanted to get into more Lego games, so the Star Wars ones were next.

I also fondly remember getting into the original Battlefront games, which I spent countless hours on. It was all I played every day. I wish I could go back to being younger again and experience that same feeling!

Glad to see this back!

Have to cheat on this one, because it's not a single book, but I can't not go with the Thrawn Trilogy.

Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and the Last Command ... they were written in a way that as soon as I finished one, I needed to start the next, so I can't tell you what happened in one book vs. another. It introduced some of the most iconic characters in the old EU. And, most importantly, reading it felt like Star Wars. Picking those books up, you really got lost in the Galaxy Far, Far Away. And it was wonderfully joyous to do so.

 

For books it's very hard, but I'd have to go with The new cannon Thrawn Trilogy or Phasma


The Thrawn trilogy because it's Thrawn, duh.



And Phasma because it introduced two great new characters in Vi Moradi and Captain Cradinal who i both really enjoyed.

 

Day 105 - What is your favourite Star Wars book and/or comic that you've read?

For me it’s behind the scenes non-fiction Star Wars books that are my favorites. Art of and Making of. Then the reference books with so many amazing images of props and characters. As a kid The Creative Impulse was a great book. Later Star Wars Chronicles was also an eye opening and amazing book.


I used to read a lot of Star Wars fiction in the late 90s and early 2000s.... No one book stands out as my a favorite. I’m not sure I read any of them twice.


Oh of course... The Han Solo Trilogy by Brain Daley is a my favorite Star Wars fiction books and I’ve read those more than once. Han Solo at Stars End, Han Solo’s Revenge, and Han Solo and the Lost Legacy.

 

As for my favourite comic, I've really been enjoying most of Marvel's runs. Especially the main series about Luke and the crew set between episodes IV and V. It's amazing to see just how much went down in those years. Vader's and Aphra's series have been great too.

WEEK 16 - STAR WARS REBELS​

Day 106 - What is your favourite episode and/or arc from Star Wars Rebels?​

 

What is your favourite Star Wars book and/or comic that you've read?

Thrawn Trilogy. Very exciting back then and a great read to this day.

I also really love the recent Vader comic series from Marvel, especially the one where he's defeated by a jedi and rebuilds himself using the force.

Day 106 - What is your favourite episode and/or arc from Star Wars Rebels?

Twighlight of the Apprentice. Awesome. One of my favourite episodes from Star Wars full stop. Ancient Sith temples and Ahsoka vs Vader. There's nothing not to like.

 

I really liked the "Ghosts of Geonosis" Arc.

It starts to raise some questions about methods within the different Rebel Factions (Saw Guerrera, especially), and what "victory" would look like for the Rebels. It plants the seeds of the still-to-come larger Rebel Alliance.



I would have said Twilight of the Apprentice, as well, were it not for The World Between Worlds episode which kind of cheapens that moment a bit for me.

I haven't actually watched Rebels. I'm only familiar with the characters from board discussion and fanfic.

 

Definitely Twilight of the Apprentice, especially the ending duel between Ahsoka and Vader.

And man, the scene when the mask is broken...

Twilight of the apprentice wins hands down

 

I'm gonna give the predictable answer and say Twilight of the Apprentice. It's not only my favourite episode of Rebels, but possibly my favourite episode of anything. The Vader vs. Ahsoka duel rivals the greatest of the movie duels. Anakin and Ahsoka's relationship was built up over several seasons of TCW and to see where it ends up is truly heartbreaking. This exchange of dialogue gives me chills every time:

Vader: Anakin Skywalker was walk, so I destroyed him.
Ahsoka: Then I will avenge his death.
Vader: Revenge is not the Jedi way.
Ahsoka: I'm no Jedi.

 

I also agree with everyone who said Twilight of the Apprentice. It brings us one of the most epic and emotional confrontations of the entire saga - Ahsoka vs. Vader. The duel was hyped up to the max and it somehow still exceeded everyone's expectations. The return of Maul made the arc even better too.

 

I also really appreciate how ruthless Vader was during the duel. I was a little worried Ahsoka would be able to reach him, even if just for a moment, and he would show Ahsoka mercy. But Vader was exactly what he should be at this point in the story, totally given over to the dark side.

Some thought that Ahsoka getting yanked into the World Between Worlds was a cop out, but I'm honestly okay with it. Vader killing Ahsoka would be fitting for his character - and I think his last strike was meant as a killing blow - but it would have been a pretty downer end to her character arc. After seeing her in The Mandalorian, I'm glad that she survived the duel.
