Pykes in Solo/TBOBF, and Zeb the Lasat in The Mandalorian. I feel like there could be more, too.

Don't think so, unless the Karkarodons we've seen have been hiding forehead tentacles all this time. But I did think so too, before that secret weapon came out.

I think ratio aliens to humans was perfect actually. We need to keep the continuity with Original trilogy and Andor. Humans are the most numerous species in the galaxy after all.
I think Karkarodons didn't have tentacle in their head but it might be related species or maybe mutanted individual- After all they created hydroid medusas too so who knows. I though first he might be karkarodon.
Not confirmed in episode guide so I think it's new species. Zygerrian jedi was confirmed. I liked her design.

I think I saw selkath in the background on Coruscant too.

I don’t know if I’ve stated this already, but this is actually the first time I’ve watched the first two episodes of a SW TV show twice, and each repeat viewing directly after the first. And whilst I’ll obviously need to get to the end of the show to see where this stands compared to Mando, Ahsoka and Andor, that I immediately sat through the episodes again is a very good sign for me… Of course me being intrigued and hooked 2 episodes in may quickly turn to boredom… but I don’t think so,,, and there’s a lot to like in this show IMO.

I enjoyed this one a bit more that the initial episode. Glad that they're pivoting from the 'who' of the murder mystery to the 'why' and 'how', meaning we get to spend time with Mae and get glimpses of what's going on in her head.

I also really liked the first scene with Qmir. The way it quickly establishes that they've probably killed the former owner of the apothecary and slid into Olega without being noticed, as if this is something they've done before, was all very nicely done. Manny Jacinto's playing it on this fine line between comedic relief and a darker edge.

I'm also warming more to the Jedi characters now we have a more traditional mission with them, The discussion of Osha's tattoo where he went out her Corp-Sec buddies is a nice character beat, subtly showing how she wasn't fitting in with the Jedi without saying as much. Having her imitate Mae was a nice little twist on things that I didn't see coming this soon.

I’d rather them keep in continuity with Prequels where there’s lots of aliens plus it’s closest to that timeframe anyway so makes more sense.

Yeah it looks like the tentacled guy is a new species, never the less the fact we’ve had an alien on screen that looks like a Karkarodon is still a big win imo.

Decent followup and continuation of the mystery.
The "Force shield" around Master Torbin was really cool and Mae trying to fight through it was really well done.
I'm especially curious why a Jedi would be willing to commit suicide rather than fess up to whatever the four Jedi were involved in regarding Osha and Mae's family.
However, I do find it a bit hard to believe that all these Jedi can't seem to apprehend Mae. Sol even had her pinned in a Force grip for a bit there.
Episode ended on a very odd "cliffhanger" (if it can be called that).

    8/10 for me.

The scenes with Master Torbin just elevated my interest in this murder-mystery. Besides having a very cool look (LOVE the hair) and doing the whole Unus-The-Untouchable deal, why would he do as Mae suggested? Considering that three of the four Jedi involved in this are in some form of personal exile with Sol being the only one still on Coruscant, what happened 16 years ago? Very very intrigued now.

The action scenes were terrific again, love that ideal that Jedi should only draw their lightsabers as a last lethal resort. I'm more interested now in the sibling relationship/rivalry of Osha & Mae. Plus, the slightly dejected look on Yord's face as Master Sol decided against his stun-blaster full-on Rambo plan of attack against Qimir was great.

    I gave it a 6/10

While the first episode essentially served as the character introductions and story catalyst, this episode continues the story with some revelations. These characters are still taking their time to grow on me, and so far the episodes aren't all that memorable. The levitating Jedi with the Force Shield was neat. I don't remember seeing anything like that since Luke in TROS. That mystery about who was killing the Jedi was revealed pretty quickly; yes, in fact it is Osha's twin Mei. When Sol and company are in the vicinity of that levitating Jedi, it's strange that no one actually senses Mei before she convinced that Jedi to poison himself.

I think the overall plot seems to be pretty clear. The Jedi that Mei has been hunting (including Sol) were those that burned their village down. Who her "master" is and how he's manipulating her remains the primary mystery. Maybe it's Yoda.

Who is Mae's master? Did somebody say Plageius?
I gave it a 7. Would have given a higher score,, but I'm a little bored with the whole evil twin trope.

That is a really good point I hadn’t fully thought-out yet.

It seemed clear that Mae was somehow reaching out to Osha, not to taunt but let her know she’s alive and she’s going to get justice. But then Mae being similarly surprised that Osha is still alive? I remember that standing out but thought maybe we were supposed to think it’s a weird subconscious thing.

But Qimir (sp?) knew. Before Mae. That’s another point to him being a rival acolyte to become apprentice, or the existing apprentice wanting to kill his master, or a newly-made master looking for their apprentice.

But if it is him… that’s powerful stuff. Snoke did it to Rey and Kylo, but this is even more sinister, with the horror-genre subconscious games. Some kind of powerful Force-user for sure, someone who knows Mae’s plan and whatever happened to Mae and Osha.

If I remember correctly, which is doubtful, there are only seven storylines. What's exciting is when something cliche, like the evil twin trope, is twisted, like Cabin in the Woods. SW hasn't really been known to have twists, but I think Mae and Osha are will at least provide a twist to SW, if not the trope. I want to know why Mae burned the village down. Lots to learn before coming to any judgement. So far, it's not playing like a daytime drama 80's script.

I have thoroughly enjoyed these first two episodes and am excited about the rest of the series. The fact that far right bigots hate it without watching it is just the icing on the cake.

I’m glad Mae was revealed to be alive early on so the Jedi wouldn’t waste a pointless trial on Osha. I love the Temple sets and the scenes of early Jedi training, and the display of how little it changed between the time of the show and the time of TPM.

In fact all the sets were amazing, the ship interiors, the planets, the smaller Temple outposts, the apothecaries and cantinas.

I liked the designs of the aliens as well; I got Farscape vibes.

As far as the complaints that those of us who were around for the OT in theaters disliking the idea that the Jedi “weren’t perfect”—I am by no means a fan of the Jedi being blamed for Order 66 (that’s ridiculous, Palpatine did it), I thoroughly appreciate the commentary on the dangers of religious dogma.

When I first heard about this storyline, I was afraid that might happen. So glad it didn't, as it would have cheapened Ahsoka's journey in The Wrong Jedi.

Agreed. They have a lumbering muppet quality I've missed. I also found the droid pilots becoming the chairs so much more enjoyable than a beeping astromech.

It could also simply be that the force is connecting them now that Mae is out and about in the universe, seeking revenge. Though I think a deliberate force manipulation by a darksider may be more likely.

In prequels there aren't that many aliens to humans really. I think this show has same amount of aliens to humans as prequels had. The Clone Wars had more aliens to humans because human many human models weren't made before the end of the series. For example jedi that attack Geonosis arena are all mainly humans with exception of some named characters (jedi council members) and a few background jedi. Naboo are all humans really, senate guards and officials are mostly human with the exception of multiethnic senators of course and Mas Amedda and Sly Moore. Chancellors are both human and even in TCW admirals of the Republic fleet are human as well as all clones of course. I think in some scenes like on Corucant humans form about 50 percent of population seen while the rest are different non-human species. Mostly nearhumans and some common alien species like rodians, weequay, twi'leks (that can be called near-human in new canon I think) and nikto.

I don't know if anyone else had made more thorough analysis on this topic but I think this show has very much similar ratio of humans to aliens as prequels (And ROTJ) While Andor (and ANH and ESB) had more humans and TCW more aliens to humans. Notably prison on Narkina 5 had no aliens at all. That may be due to imperial practice of some racial hygiene. They were exclusively human males there so maybe they had prisoners divided my race to optimize their work efficiency in these modern imperial prison facilities. While labout camps seen in Bad Batch and Rogue One had humans and aliens mixed.

Honestly I thought these episodes had a good amount of alien characters, especially with actual dialogue. PT had… Yoda and Ki-Adi Mundi and Mas Amedda and the Separatist leaders? OT had… Yoda and Akbar?

I liked the episode a little bit better, but I sort of agree that they’re slow cooking this a bit for what they’ve got, a bit like we’re waiting for the “real” hook to drop after an extended prologue.

...and that hook probably is what you’ve sussed out - the Jedi that Mei is after likely bear responsibility for the death of family and her and Osha’s Trauma, with the real question being how that played out exactly, and whether or not Sol is directly involved in whatever shame the other 3 Jedi Masters share, or if there’s mitigating circumstances with him specifically here. I definitely feel like our three main Jedi were chosen based off getting a sort of Id, Ego, and Superego to react to some major revelation, and again, like with Osha, we’re waiting for the twist.

It feels to me a bit like we’re headed towards something similar (though likely less evil and more morally complex) as the opening issue of the old Knights of the Old Republic comic where the Jedi Masters killed their own students after an seemingly average adventure of the week - but the comic unleashed that right at the end of the first issue, while we’re still waiting two episodes into the show.

I thought I read somewhere (maybe it was here) that apparently Carrie-Ann Moss' character will appear again at some point in a flashback. I guess that will be when they show what happened on Osha's home planet.

I gave this a 10/10. I think it was better than the first.

As it went on I got more and more intrigued. Why is Mae on this quest? So I'm into the mystery. It seems here we're seeing that the Jedis were something different here, and we always knew that. Jeckil seems especially by the book. What I'm really interested in seeing is Kelnacca. A Wookie Jedi? I'm there.

The response from hated filled nerds against these two episodes on social has been ridiculous. It feels like a coordinated attack lmao. Fire in space, c'mon folks. This is star wars with good character writing, with a original story, a great ambitious creative team in a fresh (for live action) universe.

The OT had a good amount of aliens with dialogue. In order of appearance…Jawas, Dr. Evazan, Greedo, Jabba, Yoda, Bib Fortuna, Sy Snootles, Yuzzum, Akbar, multiple Ewoks, Nien Nunb. Let me know if I’ve missed any.
The next episode is, according to a few reviewers, entirely a flashback.
