The Acolyte "The Acolyte" Season 1 Discussion (Spoilers Allowed)

“Have you ever heard the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?” loses a lot of its power if the legend is only a few years old.

 

Sure you dont need him to appear. But he be one of the EU Characters you can use. As he is the only Sith who fits here. Too Early for Darth Plagueis. And Tenebrous would be the Master, as Plagueis is soon Born or is a child.

You have at least 70-80 years between after The Acolyte to sometime before TPM to build up his mystery Legacy. Plagueis might appear at the series finale.

 

I think it has pretty much been confirrmed that Acolyte takes place a hundred years before TPM. So there is ample room to still have original characters. Plagueis could still be another thirty to forty years away. Palpatine wasn't even born until about 84 BBY.

 

Based on how Palps presents it, it just sounds like an older story/ legend.

 

Yes you can but no issue using a nothing EU Character. Tenebrous and Plagueis must established Sith with history before they meet their apprentices.

True, but according to the old EU (or Legends or whatever), it actually happened DURING The Phantom Menace (lol).

If I’m rembering correctly, in canon Plagueis died around the time Palpatine took on a young Maul, so, roughly 20-15 years before TPM.

 

I never liked Palpatine be the apprentice in TPM.

 

He was just trying to make it sound more cool and mysterious to Anakin.

 

Is that sourced, i though maybe when Anakin Skywalker was born. Makes for perfect rebirth for Palpatine.

 

I think it’s in either the Tarkin novel, or the Rise of Skywalker novelisation. I don’t know that they give an exact date either.

 

According to Bespin Bulletin the longest episode of the first four is 42 minutes

also I forget how many episodes is this? 8 or 12?

4th is 32 minutes and thats maybe with intro and credits, lol

 

Disney Plus is no HBO. House of the Dragon season 2 probably won't have an episode shorter than 50 minutes.

 

It’s disappointing, tbh.

 

True. But pretty much all the Disney Plus shows have been this way so it isn't surprising anymore. They probably just have a stricter limit to how much they are willing to spend than HBO does.

 

Does the cost of showing space and aliens have an affect?

 

I'm sure that plays a part.

Won’t judge the Runtime until after the episodes but not what you want to see

 

Probably around same runtime as Mandalorian episode 2.

 

I'm okay with it having some shortish episodes. A season is still longer than a film.
