Mini Series The Acolyte Season 2 discussion (spoilers allowed)

Why don't you have high hopes?

 

Or, have The Acolyte be a prelude to the Sith series, which is comprised of:
The Sith Apprentice
The Sith Master

 

Just an overall feeling for what Disney is committing to these days. And it takes years to get subsequent seasons of anything.

 

I think they will go a second season and maybe instead of more seasons we get others shows in this era between High Republic and Prequel era. My big wish are Darth Plagueis and Master Yoda. Vernestra Rhow and Qimir's back story. How the Jedi learn of the. Rule of two.

 

I think Kennedy will fight for this show, especially given that it has produced legit breakout characters and stars.

 

I hope she does. She sounds passionate about it, and SW, and this era.

EDIT: I thought this post said Headland. But it goes to KK too.

 

We might get a lower budget and maybe use the volume to help.

 

Has it? I don't think its produced anymore so then any of the others shows have.

But yeah I do think KK will greenlight a series 2. There is a reason why when solo flopped that they went to TV shows on D+ instead. Its because there is less risk. all the shows do is keep people on D+. that's really their job. They don't make back any box office, its all a wider investment into the app.

 

No thanks. If anything, The Acolyte proved that they need more budget and more time.

Yes, Qimir is huge. Sol was also huge, and legions of fans adored Jecki and Yord.

They're already planning a Kelnacca comic.

And while the show didn't create Plagueis, the vast majority of SW fans want to see him in live action.

 

More time yess but dont need more budget.

 

I think they should get a season 2 and three. I don't know why Marvel can get things approved quick and with star wars its more of a wait and see game.

 

More money means more time.

 

More time = more money.

The reason these shows don't look so good is because they are trying to stretch a movie budget out over the course of a longer time frame than most movies run.

And they obviously don't have the ability to match the production quality of HBO, so if you lower the budget, expect less time, less episodes, and less quality.

 

That doesn't change with more time either though. you will still have too much time for the amount of budget you have. that's not going to go away.

I honestly don't buy the show needed more time, it just needed better use of its time. when series 1 has the last episode do most of it heavy lifting in terms of plot, you know the mystery required a lot of middle filler in order for the last episode to do all that heavy lifting.

Id say if series 2 did that exact thing, it would hurt series 2 just as much as it did series 1. Sure it sounds good to tease the audience. Course the thought process is that if you tease enough you keep people coming back. But that may not be a great strategy going forward

She will not announce the second season. Anyway, she may already know, but she can't say such things on his own. There is a process for this.

 

She has no reason to keep it secret. Announcing a series 2 probably isn't like announcing a movie. With TV you automatically assume there will be more.

 

There are likely plenty of reasons, both legal and social, for Headland to not independently announce a second season right now.

 

Yes. Its same reason why so many actors deny and deny they're in upcoming things and then, presto, they're announced to be in it. There's a process for things like this.

 

Well they haven't exactly kept it secret about Ahsoka series 2. So I don't see why the acolyte season 2 needs a fanfare announcement

 

They waited 3 months for Ahsoka season 2

 

I think there's still potentially some time for The Acolyte to gain more traction. It's also the type of series which will benefit most from a binge, so maybe that'll also help improve its reputation for those who are coming to it fresh.

But thinking ahead, the nail in the coffin on season 2 will really be either the physical media release, per @A Chorus of Disapproval or if there's no mention of it at Celebration next year, whatever comes first.

 

I'm very optimistic about an Acolyte S2.

When you consider that Headland was creating something in a completely new period without any major Skywalker connections, it was a really huge project that I think she did a great job with.

I also do not blame the writing on the show as it's abundantly clear the episode structure and time frames were imposed by the corporate execs.

There were plenty of talented writers on the project and they were let down IMO by an artificial structure to work in.

 

I've seen shows improve greatly after their first season. Look at Clone Wars.
