I posted this in the pictures thread in Community a little while ago. I first saw it in an Ahsoka group that I follow on FB. I liked it so much I shrunk it for my avatar. The artist is Pablo Olivera.

An interesting theory, though probably brings more questions than answers.

Theory: Ahsoka Tano was meant to spy on Anakin, not to be trained by him

On the one hand, maybe it does make a little sense that the Council wanted to know more about the adult Anakin that apparently Obi-Wan wouldn't tell them - but that suggests that A) they didn't trust Obi-Wan to tell them everything and B) they trusted a young Padawan over a Jedi Master. As far as why She was assigned with Anakin instead of Plo (who discovered her in the first place), that's an open-ended question.

 

Sitting council members apparently only rarely take on a Padawan. Maybe Plo Koon considering stepping down to train her could be a short story for Insider.

 

Yeah I'd buy it for that story alone.

 

I had that down as the attachment thing. Plo's too connected and even has a nickname for her, so the council wants her with someone else. Total headcanon, of course.

Not a surprise, but her use of present tense is nice - "I'm literally living my childhood dreams". More animated Ahsoka to come.

 

There was never any doubt of more animated Ahsoka.

 

More Animated Ahsoka is a given. Only a matter of time until Ahsoka appears in The Bad Batch. She may even be in holo form soon to offer help navigating another "Children of the Force" type story. There are more interesting ways to accomplish both but that's the predictable route.

Personally, Ahsoka was a relatively advanced Padawan to start with. I think she was used in a plan to mature Anakin and ultimately teach him to let go when her training ended. A plan that ultimately backfired.

 

I think the closer we get the ST trilogy in the timeline you gotta go with animated, and you can have Ahsoka and Ezra do their thing.

 

A little op-ed piece regarding a "What if?" scenario with Ahsoka having taking the Jedi Council's offer to return after she was banished from them.

She be dead just like the other jedi around the galaxy.

 

By who's hand though? Anakin/Vader's? Rex's? She could've survived the purge as well like other Jedi had (Kanan for instance, along with Yoda and Obi-Wan of course). The article suggests that if she had stuck by with Anakin all that time, it'd be one less notch for him to deal with that plunged him towards the Dark Side. Maybe she could've gotten through to him before Palpatine got into his soul? Maybe she'd join Obi-Wan on Malachor and she'd save Padme herself. You can't really say for sure.

 

Anakin cares for Padme more then he does Ahsoka. And sure she might have lived, but I think she either would have joined the dark side or Anakin killed her.

 

Why would she have joined the Dark Side? There's really no suggestion of that in her character at any point. Palpatine certainly had no interest in her whatsoever.
