I have SO many questions about this draft. Is it peak power or current power? If you list someone that ANY other GM picks or just your opponent?

1)We should consider the history of the character. Both options are tricky. What's peak? Is it sustained? What are the extenuating circumstances? What is the character's current status? Are they depowered? Dead? There's a large catalogue to work with, so I think limiting characters to their current status could hold them back. On the other hand, determining peak can sometimes be tricky. I think a player should feel free to present any feat or trait from a given character's past, provided the context of the feat is understood. For example, wee can find in Spider-Man's history a victory over Firelord, but what was going on there?

2) Everyone will send me their full roster via private conversation (all ten characters) at the beginning. If any two GMs select the same character, that character becomes unavailable and those players must submit new characters to replace any disqualified characters. This could get a little weird. Someone could end up running away with it if all 10 of their initial characters are powerful and missed by other players. Then again everyone might continue posting the same characters until you're all drafting Shield Agent #10. It's not exactly balanced and is probably going to end poorly.

That said there are a few things from the OP I should add when considering characters:

Character Selection Requirements

• Marvel characters only
• Herald level characters and below only
• No duplicate characters
• No time manipulation
• No reality warping
• 616 and Ultimate are fine, but I am going to reserve the right to veto more obscure, what if type versions

 

Herald level means Herald level, people! Don't try it, Anakin!

I will give you until this Thursday night to send me your team, and I will post the results sometime on Friday(or sooner depending), so really you have until I post on Friday. If that's not enough time let me know and I can try to push it. If necessary I'll let you know how long for the next round after I post the results. It will probably be less time.

 

Hey I forgot to mention two things!

Trading
Obviously there can't be any trading of future picks, but character trades are certainly allowed. Just start a conversation with me that includes all parties involved (sure, three way trades why not) and the terms of the trade and there you go.

Free Agency
Free Agency will be open after every set of matches. Post add/drops in the thread before the deadline to submit rosters expires for the next set of matches.


And I really just thought of something else I would like to try but I can't do for this draft because it wasn't in the OP. Each team would lose the signing rights of any character that gets an L during matches. After results are posted, Free Agency would open, but instead of a free-for-all there would be a waiver wire with the lowest ranked team getting first dibs. Anyway. Another time I guess.

So if say Wolverine isn't picked by anyone... we still have the ability to pick him up in FA before the first match?

 

Also if someone is "above herald level" you will just notify us and we then send in someone else. There are a few people that I don't know if they are herald level or not and I guess I need the judges to weigh in on but don't want to be penalized for it.

 

I know! How's it going? It's been too long. That said I think I would enjoy judging more, but Yak pulled me back into the arena. I said in the thread before I left I'd return so honoring that, plus I missed you all.

 

Yes. You have the ability to add characters which haven't been selected or eliminated yet after each match.

Yes, you'll be notified beforehand. Unless it is an exceptionally overpowered individual, the judges will confer about borderline characters and get back to the player so they can change their submission before it is posted. This will be easier if the selections are made in a timely manner. If you wait until the last minute to submit, I'll still attempt to give people a chance to reselect any characters determined to be over the line, but at that point I don't want to hold everyone else up so I'd ask that everyone please be considerate of the other players.

You can ask about any characters you think are near the line and I'll forward those names to the judges so we can talk about it before you actually submit rosters.
