This is like the Titanic, but someone has glued down the deckchairs and Ole is unable to move them.

I really hope United appoint Richie to replace Ed Woodward. Selling top-tier players for below value, buying lower-rung players for above value, remaining infatuated with players who aren't available, and ignoring transfers for players that are available and could help.

I don't care how much players are worth, asking for too much stops them leaving & they need to go.

We can't start the season with Pogba, Darmian & Rojo still in the squad. But no-one can buy them because we ask for more than they're worth plus they have high wages.
And the Glazers won't fund more transfers if we don't sell.

Your first eight words are exactly why Inty wants you to replace Woodward.

United don't need value, easily able to take a loss on players.
Why end up keeping players you don't want who don't want to be there because you're too stubborn to let them go for a decent price?
That's what will end up happening.

And it's why we'll end up with not enough new players at the start of the season, because it'll take us 6 weeks to offload players & then we'll try getting replacements a week before the window shuts

    Schrodinger's football club

Financially sound enough to take a loss on players, but lacking the financial strength to buy new players without selling first.

Tis the problem with greedy owners who need the club's profits for themselves rather than using it to invest in the club

I doubt he'll go to a bigger club than United. He's a decent defender, certainly the best United have, but he's hardly of the calibre that a Madrid, Barcelona or Juventus would want him. And none of the PL Top 4 would either.
He's not going anywhere. If United get a solid CB partner for him he'll be happier.

    barcelona once bought vermaelen, rich

and he's going to see more meaningful football playing once a month for barca than he will all year with untied

He’s probably seen how awful the Manchester Untied wage structure is and wants...and will get...200k a week.

    You’re so wonderfully ****ed.

    lol

delusion on the level of loathsome epic. mata's apparently the only one who wants to be there. through 2022, you get a slow, aging, diminutive attacker with six goals in his last 50 appearances. but at least he's not clawing at the doors to escape. grats rich

Better player than he was given credit for.

I remember his volley against Man City, ridiculous

The spending now is ridiculous. It's a shame the market got distorted about 15 years ago.

    Still bargains to be had.

Leicester have got Tielemens for £40m & Perez for £30m.

Everton signed André Gomes for £22m.

There is talent available for lower prices, unfortunately when certain teams come enquiring the prices go up.
Time was you could slap a 50m price tag on someone to deter anyone from buying them, now many clubs would easily pay that so prices have to be higher.
Over 100m is crazy though, no-one should be paying that

You've been advocating big spending the most here.

That's how the market is now, so you have to pay to get what you want.
Doesn't mean that's how it should be

    Hmm

I wonder what club was the biggest driving factor in rising transfer fees?

It wasn't that long ago that people were stunned by £5m for Sutton and £7m for Cole. Inflation and TV money drive stupid transfer fees, the arrival of super rich owners just helps it along.

Give it a few years and £50m will be a cheap purchase
